Twitch Text Formatter
Format Twitch chat messages, bios and stream titles with bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, fancy fonts, lists and emojis, then copy and paste in one click.
Twitch chat has no formatting toolbar and does not render Markdown, so every chat message, bio and stream title shows as plain text. This free Twitch text formatter fixes that. Type or paste your message, select words and make them bold, italic, underlined or strikethrough, switch to fonts like script, Fraktur, monospace or double-struck, and add bullets, checkmarks, numbered lists, dividers and emojis. A live stream chat preview and a 500-character counter show exactly how your message will look before you send it. Everything runs in your browser, free, with no sign-up and no watermark.

How Do You Format Text in Twitch Chat?
To format text in Twitch chat, type or paste your message into the editor above, select the words you want to style and click B, I, U, S or a style from the Fonts menu. Then click Copy message and paste it into Twitch chat, your channel bio or your stream title. The styling uses Unicode characters, so every viewer sees it on desktop, mobile and TV apps without any extension.
Twitch chat, whispers, profile bios and stream titles accept plain text only. There is no bold button, and Markdown such as **bold** or _italic_ appears as raw symbols. Styled Unicode letters are ordinary characters to Twitch, so they survive copy and paste and look the same for everyone in chat.
The formatting happens in your browser, so your message is never uploaded or stored. You get a preview that looks like a real Twitch stream chat, with your username, a subscriber badge and the Send a message box, plus a live character and word count against Twitch’s 500-character chat limit. Undo, redo, paste from clipboard, sample text and download as a .txt file are all built in.
Common reasons to use styled text on Twitch:
- Make announcements, giveaways and raid messages stand out in a busy chat.
- Style your Twitch bio so your name, schedule and socials are easy to scan.
- Highlight one key word in a stream title or Go Live notification.
- Turn chat rules, stream schedules and bot command lists into clean, readable lines.
- Use fonts Twitch does not offer, such as script, Fraktur, monospace and double-struck.
- Fix messy text copied from Discord, notes apps or websites before you post it in chat.
What each option does:
| Option | What it does | When to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Bold, Italic, Bold italic | Converts the selected letters and numbers into Unicode bold, italic or bold italic characters that keep their style when pasted into Twitch. | Emphasising a key word in chat, a giveaway keyword or your channel name in your bio. |
| Underline, Strikethrough | Adds a combining line under or through each character. | Underline for a rule or deadline; strikethrough for a joke correction or an old schedule time. |
| Fonts | Swaps letters for sans bold, sans italic, monospace, script, bold script, Fraktur, double-struck or small caps. | Bio headers, panel titles and short hype messages in chat. |
| Lists | Adds bullets, arrows, checkmarks, green ticks, pointers, sparkles, checkboxes, numbers or emoji numbers to each line. | Chat rules, stream schedules, command lists and bio sections. |
| Insert | Adds dividers, symbols and emojis at the cursor. | Separating sections and flagging live times, schedules or social links. |
| Clean up | Clears styling, tidies spacing, spaces out lines or removes blank lines. | Fixing text pasted from Discord, Word, notes apps or websites before you send it. |
Good to know
- Twitch chat messages are capped at 500 characters and bios at 300. Some styled letters and emojis use more than one character, so check the counter before you copy.
- Some channels use AutoMod or chat bot filters that time out messages with too many symbols. Check the channel rules before posting heavily styled text.
- Styled letters are different characters, so Twitch search may not match them. Keep your game name and main keywords in plain text in stream titles.
- Screen readers may spell out styled letters one by one, so use them for short highlights rather than whole messages.
- Giveaway and command bots look for exact plain-text keywords, so do not style the word viewers need to type.

How to Format Text for Twitch Chat (3 Steps)
Write or paste your message
Type in the editor, click Paste to bring in text from your clipboard, or click Sample to try a ready-made chat message.
Format your text
Select words and click B, I, BI, U or S, open Fonts for script, monospace or double-struck styles, and use Lists, Insert and Clean up to finish your message.
Copy and paste into Twitch
Click Copy message, open Twitch, then paste into the Send a message box, your bio in Settings › Profile, or your stream title in Stream Manager.
Tip: check the chat preview and the 500-character counter before you copy, because Twitch will not send chat messages over 500 characters. In stream titles, keep your game name and main keywords in plain text so viewers can still find your stream through Twitch search.
Which Formatting Should I Use on Twitch?
| Where on Twitch | Formatting | Lists | Tip |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chat messages | Bold one or two key words | Rarely, keep it to one line | Check the channel rules on symbols, caps and emotes. |
| Announcements and giveaways | Bold headline, a few emojis | Arrows or pointers for steps | Keep the entry keyword in plain text so bots can detect it. |
| Twitch bio (300 characters) | Bold or script for your name | Bullets for schedule and socials | Watch the counter so the whole bio fits. |
| Stream title (140 characters) | One styled word or emoji at most | None | Keep the game name and keywords in plain text for search. |
| Chat rules and panels | Bold headings | Numbered or checkmark lists | Panel descriptions also accept basic Markdown. |
| Bot commands (Nightbot, StreamElements) | Bold or monospace for command names | Bullets or arrows | Test the command once in chat to see how it displays. |
Writing a Twitch message that is easy to read:
- Lead with the most important word, because chat scrolls fast.
- Style one or two words, not the whole message.
- Break bios and rules into short lines with bullets or checkmarks.
- Use emojis to signal meaning, such as live, schedule or socials, not as decoration.
- Check how it reads on a phone, since many viewers watch on mobile.
After you format your text, you can paste it into Twitch chat, whispers, your channel bio, stream titles, panel descriptions and chat bot commands, on the Twitch website, the mobile app or the TV and console apps. Because the styling uses Unicode characters, the same text also works on Discord, YouTube live chat, Kick, X, Instagram and TikTok. Twitch chat does not support Markdown, so symbols like **bold** stay as plain text there.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I make text bold in Twitch chat?
Twitch chat has no bold button and does not support Markdown. Type your message here, select the words and click B, then click Copy message and paste it into chat. The bold letters are Unicode characters, so every viewer sees them.
How do I make text italic, underlined or strikethrough with this tool?
Select the text and click I for italic, BI for bold italic, U for underline or S for strikethrough. You can combine styles, then copy the result and paste it into Twitch.
Is this Twitch text formatter free?
Yes. It is 100% free, with no sign-up, no download, no usage limit and no watermark on your text.
Is my text private?
Yes. All formatting runs in your browser. Your text is never uploaded to our servers or stored anywhere.
Does the formatting work on mobile, desktop and TV apps?
Yes. Unicode styled text shows in Twitch chat in desktop browsers, the Twitch app on iPhone and Android, and most TV and console apps. A few older devices may show some fonts as boxes.
How do I add bullet points or a numbered list?
Select the lines and open Lists. Choose bullets, arrows, checkmarks, green ticks, pointers, sparkles, checkboxes, numbers or emoji numbers. Twitch chat sends each message as a single line, so multi-line lists work best in panel descriptions and other apps.
Why do I need a text formatter for Twitch?
Twitch has no text formatting in chat, bios or stream titles, and it shows Markdown symbols as plain text. This tool converts your text into styled Unicode characters that Twitch displays exactly as you pasted them.
Can I use styled text in my Twitch bio or stream title?
Yes. Paste styled letters, symbols or emojis into your bio in Settings › Profile or your title in Stream Manager. Keep your bio under 300 characters and your title under 140, and leave your game name and main keywords in plain text.
Is there a character limit?
The tool counts characters and words as you type against Twitch’s 500-character chat limit. Some styled letters and emojis use more than one character, so watch the counter before you copy.
Why does my styled text show as boxes or question marks?
Some older phones, browsers, TVs or fonts do not include every Unicode character, so they show boxes or question marks. Bold, italic and sans styles have the widest support, so use those for important words.
Does styled text affect search on Twitch?
Yes. Twitch search treats styled letters as symbols, not normal letters. Keep your channel name, game name and main keywords in plain text in stream titles so viewers can find you.
Is styled text accessible for screen readers?
Not always. Screen readers may read styled letters one by one or skip them. Use styling for short highlights and keep important details, like rules and links, in plain text.
How do I remove formatting from my text?
Select the text and choose Clean up › Clear styling to turn styled letters back into normal text. Tidy spacing, Space out lines and Remove blank lines fix messy spacing.
How do I add line breaks and spacing?
Press Enter for a new line and use Clean up › Space out lines to add space between lines. Twitch chat sends each message as one line, so line breaks are most useful for panels, bot responses and other apps.
Can I add dividers and emojis?
Yes. Open Insert to add dividers, symbols and emojis at your cursor. Twitch emotes such as Kappa are typed as words, so add them in chat after you paste.
Does Twitch chat support Markdown?
No. Twitch chat, bios and stream titles show Markdown symbols like **bold** as plain text. Panel descriptions accept basic Markdown, but for chat you need Unicode styled text like the output of this tool.
Can I use this formatted text in other apps?
Yes. The styled text works on Discord, YouTube, Kick, X, Instagram, TikTok, WhatsApp and most apps that accept Unicode text.
How do I save my text for later?
Click Download to save your text as a .txt file, or click Copy message and paste it into a notes app or a Nightbot or StreamElements command.
