How Do You Sign a PDF Online?
To sign a PDF online, add your PDF, click Signature, then draw, type or upload your signature and click Use this signature. Click on the page where it should go, drag it into place and resize it with the blue corner. Then click Apply and save PDF and download the signed file. Teasoft's Sign PDF tool runs entirely in your browser, so your document is never uploaded to a server.
Printing a document, signing it with a pen and scanning it back takes time and leaves you with a blurry, oversized file. Signing the PDF directly is faster and cleaner: your signature sits sharply on the page, the original text stays crisp and searchable, and the file is ready to email in seconds. It works on a laptop, tablet or phone, so you can sign a contract, form or invoice wherever you are.
Everything happens on your own device. Your browser shows each page with pdf.js so you can see exactly where you are signing, and pdf-lib writes your signature and text into the original PDF. The pages are not turned into images, so the document’s text, links and layout stay exactly as they were. Nothing is sent to Teasoft or anyone else, so you can safely sign contracts, offer letters, NDAs, tax forms and bank documents.
What ends up in your signed PDF:
| Part of your document | In your signed PDF | Good to know |

| Name, date and initials | Added as real PDF text | Helvetica, Times or Courier, any size and colour, with optional bold. |
| Landscape or rotated pages | Supported | Your signature stays upright and in the right spot on rotated pages. |
| File name | Original name with -signed added | For example, contract.pdf is saved as contract-signed.pdf. |

Which PDF Tool Should I Use?
Use Sign PDF when a document only needs your signature, initials, name or date added. If you need to prepare the file before signing, or protect and share it afterwards, one of these tools may suit you better:
How to Sign a PDF (3 Steps)
Add your PDF
Drag and drop, click Add, or browse to pick the PDF you want to sign. One file at a time, up to 150 MB and 500 pages. The first page opens right away.
Create and place your signature
Click Signature, then draw, type or upload it. Click on the page to place it, drag to move it and pull the blue corner to resize. Add your name or date with Text.
Download your signed PDF
Click Apply and save PDF, then Download. Your file is saved as yourfile-signed.pdf and opens in any browser, Adobe Acrobat or phone.
Tip: draw your signature larger than you need and then shrink it on the page, which keeps the lines smooth and sharp. If several documents need signing, use Merge PDF to combine them first and sign them all in one go.
Which Signature Method Should I Use?
| What you have | What to do | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| A mouse, trackpad or touchscreen | Choose Draw and sign in the pad | A handwritten signature that looks like your pen signature |
| A phone or tablet | Choose Draw and sign with your finger or a stylus | Smooth, natural strokes on any touch screen |
| Only a keyboard | Choose Type and enter your full name | Your name in a flowing script style that is clean and easy to read |
| A photo or scan of your signature on paper | Choose Upload and pick a PNG, JPG or WebP image | Your real signature with the white background removed |
| A form that also needs your name or date | Place your signature, then use Text | Typed details lined up neatly next to your signature |
Getting better results when you sign
- Use a clean signature image. If you upload a photo, sign in dark ink on plain white paper, in good light, and crop close to the signature.
- Go to the right page first. Use Prev and Next to find the signature line before you click, then drag your signature so it sits neatly on the line.
- Keep the size realistic. A signature about 4 to 6 cm wide looks natural on an A4 or Letter page.
- Add your name and the date as text. A typed name and date next to your signature make the document easy to read and verify.
- Check before you send. Open the downloaded file and review every page. To change something, sign the original PDF again.
After you sign your PDF
- Make it smaller. Use Compress PDF before you email or upload the signed file.
- Protect it. Use Protect PDF to add a password before you share a signed agreement.
- Combine files. Use Merge PDF to join the signed pages with other documents into one PDF.
- Make more changes. Use Edit PDF if the document needs more than a signature.
