How Do You Convert PDF to PNG?
To convert PDF to PNG, add your PDF file, choose a resolution (150 DPI is the default), type the page numbers if you only need some pages, then click Convert to PNG and download your images. Teasoft's converter runs entirely in your browser, so your PDF is never uploaded to a server.
PDF is great for sharing documents, but not when you need a picture. You can't place a PDF page in most slides, design tools or web pages as an image, and many apps and forms accept only image files. A PDF to PNG converter turns each page of your PDF into a standard PNG image. Because PNG is a lossless format, small text, thin lines, tables, charts and diagrams stay as crisp as in the original PDF.
Everything happens on your own device. Your browser opens the PDF with pdf.js, the open-source PDF engine from Mozilla, draws each page and saves it as a PNG right there. Nothing is sent to a server, so it is safe to use for private files such as certificates, contracts, reports, invoices and signed forms.
Pick your resolution:
| Resolution | Image size for an A4 page | Choose it when |
|---|---|---|
| 72 DPI, small | About 595 × 842 px | You want thumbnails, quick previews or the smallest possible PNG files. |
| 110 DPI, screen | About 909 × 1286 px | You will view the images on a phone or screen, or share them in chat apps. |
| 150 DPI, standard (default) | About 1240 × 1754 px | Most everyday uses: slides, documents, websites and online forms. |
| 200 DPI, sharp | About 1654 × 2339 px | The pages have small text, tables, charts or detailed drawings you need to zoom into. |
| 300 DPI, print | About 2480 × 3508 px | You will print the images or need the sharpest result for design work. |
Common reasons to convert PDF to PNG:
- Adding a PDF page, chart or diagram to PowerPoint, Google Slides or Word as a sharp picture.
- Using pages in design tools such as Canva, Figma or Photoshop without losing quality.
- Saving text-heavy pages, such as code, forms or spreadsheets, where JPG compression would blur the letters.
- Publishing document pages, infographics or floor plans on a website or blog.
- Uploading certificates or documents to portals that accept PNG images.
- Keeping a lossless image copy of a page for archiving or further editing.
What each setting does:
| Setting | What it does | When to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Resolution | Sets how many pixels each page gets, from 72 DPI to 300 DPI (default 150 DPI). Higher DPI gives larger, sharper images and bigger files. | 150 DPI for everyday use. 200–300 DPI for small text, design work and printing. 72–110 DPI for previews and smaller files. |
| Pages | Chooses which pages to convert, for example 1-3, 5, 8- (8- means page 8 to the end). Leave it empty to convert every page. | When you need only some pages, such as one chart or diagram from a long report. |
| Format | Saves every page as a lossless PNG. There is no quality slider, because PNG never throws away detail. | Always on. If you need much smaller files instead, use PDF to JPG. |
Each page is saved as its own PNG and named after your PDF with the page number, for example report-page-1.png. A single image downloads directly, and several images download together in one ZIP file.
Good to know
- Only PDF files are accepted. The tool takes .pdf files. To go the other way and turn images into a PDF, use PNG to PDF.
- Password-protected PDFs can't be converted. If you know the password, remove it first with Unlock PDF, then convert.
- Pages are drawn on a white background. Transparent areas in your PDF appear white in the PNG. For much smaller image files, use PDF to JPG.
- Text in the PNG is not editable. Each page becomes a picture, so its text can't be selected, searched or edited. Keep your original PDF if you need that.
- Very large pages need a lower resolution. To keep your browser from running out of memory, a page can be at most 16,384 pixels on a side or about 67 megapixels (about 16 megapixels on iPhone and iPad). If a page is bigger, choose a lower DPI. Up to 500 pages are converted from each PDF.

Which PDF Tool Should I Use?
Use PDF to PNG when you need lossless, pixel-perfect images of your PDF pages for slides, design work, websites or printing. If you want smaller files for sharing or uploads, use PDF to JPG. To pull pages out as a new PDF instead of images, use Split PDF. The tools below help with the next step.
How to Convert PDF to PNG (3 Steps)
Add your PDF files
Drag and drop, click Add, or browse to pick your PDFs. Add up to 50 files, each up to 150 MB, and remove any you don't need.
Choose the settings
Pick a resolution: 150 DPI for everyday use or 300 DPI for print. To convert only some pages, type them in the Pages box, for example 1-3, 5. Leave it empty to convert every page.
Convert and download
Click Convert to PNG, then Download. A single image downloads directly, and multiple images come together in one ZIP file.
Tip: for slides, documents and websites, 150 DPI gives sharp PNG images at a sensible file size. For printing or design work, choose 300 DPI. If a portal has a strict size limit such as 100 KB or 200 KB, lower the resolution first, shrink the images afterwards with Compress PNG, or convert with PDF to JPG for much smaller files.
Which Settings Should I Use?
| Your goal | Resolution | Pages | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| Add pages to slides or a document | 150 DPI | All or selected | Sharp on screens and projectors at a moderate file size |
| Use pages in Canva, Figma or Photoshop | 200 DPI | The pages you need | Extra pixels for cropping and zooming |
| Publish on a website or blog | 110–150 DPI | The pages you need | Fits most page layouts and loads quickly |
| Read small text or zoom into drawings | 200 DPI | All | Fine print and thin lines stay legible |
| Print the pages | 300 DPI | All | Print-ready detail |
| Quick previews or thumbnails | 72 DPI | All | Smallest PNG files |
These are starting points. Open the images and check them before you send, publish or print.
PNG or JPG?
| Choose | When |
|---|---|
| PNG (this tool) | You want lossless images with perfectly sharp text, lines and charts, for slides, design work, websites or printing, and a bigger file size is fine. |
| JPG (PDF to JPG) | You want smaller files that open everywhere, such as for scanned pages, photos, sharing and online forms. |
What does DPI mean?
DPI (dots per inch) sets how many pixels each inch of the PDF page becomes. An A4 page at 150 DPI becomes about 1240 × 1754 pixels. At 300 DPI it is about 2480 × 3508 pixels, twice as wide and tall, with roughly four times as many pixels and a much bigger file.
Why convert only some pages?
It is faster and gives you fewer files to sort through. Type 2 for a single page, 1-3 for a range, or 8- for page 8 to the end, and separate several choices with commas.
Getting better results from PDF to PNG
- Use 150 DPI or higher for text. Pages with small print stay readable at 150–200 DPI.
- Expect bigger files than JPG. Lossless PNG keeps every detail, so files are larger, especially for photos and scanned pages.
- Lower the resolution to cut file size. Dropping from 300 to 150 DPI gives each image about a quarter of the pixels, and text stays clean.
- Convert only the pages you need. It is faster and saves you sorting through extra images.
- Scanned PDFs are already images. Going above the resolution they were scanned at (often 200–300 DPI) makes bigger files, not sharper ones. For scans and photos, PDF to JPG usually gives much smaller files.
After you convert to PNG
- Make the images smaller. Use Compress PNG to fit upload limits such as 100 KB or 200 KB.
- Change the size in pixels. Use Resize Image to match an exact width and height.
- Need smaller files for sharing? Use PDF to JPG for compact images that upload fast.
- Turn them back into a PDF. Use PNG to PDF to combine edited images into one document.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I convert PDF to PNG?
Open Teasoft's PDF to PNG Converter, add your PDF, choose the resolution, then click Convert to PNG and download your images. It takes only a few seconds in any modern browser.
How do I convert only one page of a PDF to PNG?
Type the page number in the Pages box, for example 3, before you click Convert to PNG. You can also enter ranges such as 1-3, 5, 8- to pick several pages.
Is the PDF to PNG converter free?
Yes. It is free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no hidden charges.
Are my PDF files uploaded to a server?
No. The pages are converted in your browser and your PDF never leaves your device, so it is safe for private and confidential files.
Does converting PDF to PNG reduce quality?
No. PNG is a lossless format, so nothing is lost to compression. Sharpness depends only on the resolution: 150 DPI looks crisp on screen, and 300 DPI is best for printing.
Will each page become a separate PNG?
Yes. Every page is saved as its own image, named like report-page-1.png, report-page-2.png and so on. Several images download together in one ZIP file.
What resolution (DPI) should I choose?
150 DPI suits most uses. Choose 200–300 DPI for printing, design work or pages with small text, and 72–110 DPI for quick previews and smaller files.
Can I convert multiple PDFs at once?
Yes. Add up to 50 PDFs, each up to 150 MB. All the images download together in one ZIP file.
How many pages can I convert from one PDF?
Up to 500 pages from each PDF. Use the Pages box to convert only the pages you need.
Can I convert a password-protected PDF?
No. A PDF that needs a password to open can't be converted. If you know the password, remove it with Unlock PDF first, then convert.
Why are my PNG files so large?
PNG is lossless, so it keeps every pixel, and file size grows with the resolution and how detailed each page is. Choose a lower DPI, shrink the images with Compress PNG, or use PDF to JPG for much smaller files.
Can I edit the text in the PNG images?
No. Each page becomes a picture, so its text can't be selected, searched or edited. Keep your original PDF if you need editable text.
Do the PNG images keep transparency?
No. Each page is drawn on a white background, so any transparent areas in your PDF appear white in the PNG.
Which file types does it accept?
PDF files (.pdf) only. To turn images into a PDF, use PNG to PDF.
What is the difference between PDF to PNG and PDF to JPG?
PNG is lossless, so it keeps text and lines perfectly crisp but makes bigger files. JPG makes much smaller files and is best for scans, photos and sharing.
Will my images have a watermark?
No. Your PNG images contain only your PDF pages, with no watermark or logo added.
Can I convert PDF to PNG on my phone?
Yes. The tool works in the browser on Android phones and iPhones, as well as tablets, Windows PCs and Macs. No app is needed.
Do I need an internet connection?
Yes, to open the page, load the PDF engine and run the security check. The conversion itself happens on your device, and your PDF is not uploaded.
