How Do You Convert a PDF to Excel?

To convert a PDF to Excel, add your PDF, choose a sheet layout (One sheet per page or All pages on one sheet), then click Convert to Excel and download the .xlsx file. Teasoft's PDF to Excel converter runs entirely in your browser, so your documents are never uploaded to a server.

PDFs are great for sharing but hard to work with when the data is locked inside. Copying a table from a PDF into a spreadsheet usually leaves everything pasted into one column, with broken rows and numbers stored as text. This free PDF to Excel converter does the work for you: it reads bank statements, invoices, price lists, financial reports and data tables, and gives you a clean spreadsheet with each value in its own cell, ready for formulas, charts and pivot tables.

Everything happens on your own device. Your browser opens the PDF with pdf.js, an open-source PDF library, and reads the position of every piece of text on each page. Text on the same line becomes one row, and wide gaps between words mark a new column, so the table structure of the PDF carries over into Excel. Values that look like numbers, such as 1,250.75, -42 or (300), are saved as real numeric cells, while codes with leading zeros, long ID numbers, dates and values with currency or percent signs stay as text so nothing is changed by accident. The workbook is then built with SheetJS and saved as a standard .xlsx file.

      Frequently Asked Questions

Add your PDF, choose One sheet per page or All pages on one sheet, then click Convert to Excel and Download. The spreadsheet saves as an .xlsx file you can open in Excel or Google Sheets.

Yes. Teasoft's PDF to Excel converter is completely free, with no sign-up, no software to install and no watermark on your spreadsheet.

No. Your PDFs are read and converted inside your browser, and the finished spreadsheet is created on your device. Only a quick Cloudflare Turnstile security check contacts our server, and it never receives your files.

Yes. Every value is placed in its own cell, so you can edit, sort, filter, add formulas, build charts and create pivot tables just like in any other spreadsheet.

One sheet per page creates a separate worksheet for every PDF page, named Page 1, Page 2 and so on. All pages on one sheet stacks every page on a single worksheet named PDF, with a blank row between pages, which is best for long tables that run across several pages.

The rows, columns and values are kept, but fonts, colours, borders and merged cells are not. You get clean, unformatted cells that you can style in Excel in a few clicks.

No. Scanned PDFs and photos of documents contain images, not selectable text, and this tool does not include OCR. If no selectable text is found, the tool tells you instead of creating an empty file.

Yes, where possible. Values such as 1,250.75, -42 or (300) become numeric cells, with brackets read as negative numbers. Values with leading zeros, more than 15 digits, currency symbols or percent signs are kept as text so they are not changed.

You can add up to 50 PDFs in one go. Each file can be up to 150 MB, and up to 500 pages per PDF are converted.

You get a standard .xlsx workbook, which opens in Microsoft Excel 2007 and later, Excel for Mac, Excel Online, Google Sheets, LibreOffice Calc, Apple Numbers and WPS Office.

Not directly. The converter can't open PDFs that need a password. If you know the password, remove it first with Teasoft's Unlock PDF tool, then convert the unlocked file.

Columns are worked out from the gaps between pieces of text. Tables without clear spacing, cells that wrap onto two lines or multi-column page layouts can shift values into the next column. A quick fix in Excel, such as Text to Columns, usually sorts it out.

Yes. The tool works in mobile browsers on Android and iPhone. For very large PDFs or big batches, a computer is faster because it has more memory.

Each spreadsheet keeps the name of the original PDF with an .xlsx extension, so report.pdf becomes report.xlsx. When you convert several PDFs, they download together in one ZIP file.

No. Your spreadsheet contains only the data from your PDF, with no watermark, logo or extra rows added.

No. The conversion happens in your browser, and you can open the .xlsx file in free apps such as Google Sheets, LibreOffice Calc or Apple Numbers.

Up to 500 pages of each PDF are converted. If your file is longer, split it into smaller parts with Teasoft's Split PDF tool and convert each part.

Yes, to load the page and the conversion components. Your PDF itself is processed on your device and is never sent over the internet.
