Why Convert HEIC to JPG?
HEIC to JPG conversion re-saves an iPhone photo (HEIC or HEIF) as a JPG file. JPG opens on virtually every device, app, website and print service, while HEIC often does not. Convert when a photo won't open on Windows or Android, won't upload to a website, or is rejected when you try to email or print it.
Since iOS 11, iPhones have saved photos in HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) by default. It keeps photos small without visibly hurting quality, so more pictures fit on your phone. Apple has said HEIF images take up roughly half the space of a comparable JPEG.
The catch is compatibility. Apple devices handle HEIC without trouble, but when you move those photos elsewhere, you may hit problems:
- A photo won't open on a Windows PC or an Android phone.
- A job portal, school form, marketplace or government site says "JPG or PNG only".
- An email attachment, printing kiosk or older software can't read the file.
- A shared folder shows blank thumbnails for your iPhone pictures.
- Your photo-editing app or website builder rejects the file.
JPG fixes all of these, because it is the most widely supported photo format in the world.
Good to know:
- JPG files are larger. Expect the JPG to take up more space than the HEIC. A lower quality setting makes it smaller.
- Keep your originals. Converting copies the photo into a new file. Your original HEIC stays untouched, so keep it as the master.
- Live Photos and bursts become stills. You get a single photo, not the motion.
What You Can Do With This Converter
- Convert HEIC and HEIF. Works with photos from iPhone and iPad, up to 100 MB each.
- Control the quality. The slider starts at 90%. Lower values make smaller files, and 85–92% looks identical for most photos.
- Choose a background colour. If a picture has transparent areas, they are filled with the colour you pick, because JPG cannot store transparency.
- Convert in bulk. Add up to 50 photos at once and download them all as one ZIP, ideal after a trip or event.
- Private by design. Photos are processed in your browser and never uploaded to a server. Nothing leaves your device.
- Add photos your way. Drag and drop, browse, or copy an image and press Ctrl+V to paste it.
- No sign-up, no watermark, no fees.
- Works on any device. Windows, Mac, Linux, Android and iPhone, in any modern browser.
Which Image Tool Should I Use?
Pick the format that fits what you're doing next. JPG works almost everywhere, PNG keeps transparency, and WebP is best for websites.
How to Convert HEIC to JPG
Add your HEIC photos
Drag and drop your files, click browse, or press Ctrl+V to paste. You can add up to 50 photos, each up to 100 MB.

Convert and download
Click Convert to JPG, then save each photo or use Download to get all JPGs in one ZIP.
Why Are My iPhone Photos HEIC, and Can I Avoid It?
iPhones use HEIC by default because it saves storage. You can change that, or avoid the problem when you transfer photos.
Option 1: Shoot in the most compatible format
On your iPhone, open Settings > Camera > Formats and choose Most Compatible. New photos are then saved as JPG. (Menu names may vary slightly between iOS versions.)
Option 2: Let your iPhone convert on transfer
In Settings > Photos, scroll to Transfer to Mac or PC and choose Automatic. When you connect your iPhone to a computer, it can convert photos to a compatible format for you.
Option 3: Convert after the fact
If you already have HEIC photos, this converter turns them into JPG in seconds without installing anything.
Which should you choose?
Keep HEIC if you mostly stay inside the Apple ecosystem and care about storage. Choose JPG-friendly settings, or convert as needed, if you often share photos with Windows or Android users, upload to websites or print.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I convert HEIC to JPG?
Open Teasoft's HEIC to JPG converter, add your HEIC photos, choose the quality, click Convert to JPG and download the results as individual files or a ZIP.
What is a HEIC file?
HEIC is the image format iPhones and iPads use by default since iOS 11. It stores photos in smaller files than JPG at similar quality, but not every device or website supports it.
Why won't my iPhone photos open on Windows or Android?
Many Windows and Android setups do not include HEIC support by default, so the photo can't be displayed. Converting the photo to JPG lets it open anywhere.
Is HEIC the same as HEIF?
Close, but not identical. HEIF is the file format standard and HEIC is the version Apple uses for photos. Teasoft's converter accepts both.
Does converting HEIC to JPG reduce quality?
Slightly, because JPG is a lossy format. At 85–92% quality the difference is usually not visible. Use 95% if you want to keep as much detail as possible.
Why is my JPG bigger than the HEIC?
HEIC compresses more efficiently than JPG, so a JPG of the same photo at similar quality is usually larger. Lower the quality slider if you need a smaller file.
Does this keep my original photo?
Yes. The converter makes a new JPG file. Your original HEIC stays untouched on your device.
What happens to Live Photos?
A Live Photo becomes a single still JPG image. The motion and sound are not included.
Can I convert many HEIC files at once?
Yes. Add up to 50 files in one batch, each up to 100 MB, and download them all as a ZIP.
Are my photos uploaded to a server?
No. Conversion happens in your browser, and your photos are never uploaded.
How do I stop my iPhone saving photos as HEIC?
Go to Settings > Camera > Formats and choose Most Compatible. New photos will be saved as JPG instead of HEIC.
Can I convert HEIC to JPG on my iPhone or Android phone?
Yes. The converter works in the browser on iPhone, Android, tablets and computers. You do not need to install an app.
Is the HEIC to JPG converter free?
Yes. It is free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no hidden fees.
