How Do You Rotate a PDF Online?
To rotate a PDF online, add your PDF, choose Left 90°, Right 90° or 180°, pick which pages to turn (all, odd, even or a page range) and click Rotate PDF. Then click Download to save the corrected file. It takes a few seconds and works on any device.
Scanned documents, phone photos and merged files often end up with pages that are sideways or upside down. Most PDF viewers only rotate the page on your screen and don't save the change. Rotating the PDF itself fixes the pages for good, so they open the right way up for everyone you share the file with.
Everything happens on your own device. pdf-lib updates the rotation of each selected page inside the original PDF, and pdf.js shows a preview of the first page so you can confirm you added the right file. Pages are not re-rendered or turned into images, so there is no loss of quality. Nothing is sent to Teasoft or anyone else, so you can safely rotate contracts, scanned IDs, bank statements and exam papers.
What ends up in your rotated PDF:
| Part of your document | In your rotated PDF | Good to know |
|---|---|---|
| Selected pages | Turned by the angle you chose | Rotation is added to any existing rotation, so a page already at 90° turned Right 90° ends up at 180°. |
| Pages you didn’t select | Kept unchanged | Ideal for fixing only the sideways pages in a mixed document. |
| Text and links | Preserved | Text stays selectable and searchable, and links keep working. |
| Images and scans | Same quality | Nothing is compressed or re-rendered, so scans stay as sharp as the original. |
| File name | yourfile-rotated.pdf | Several files download together in one ZIP. |
Common reasons to rotate a PDF:
- Fixing scanned documents that came out sideways or upside down.
- Turning landscape pages, such as charts, tables and spreadsheets, so they read correctly.
- Correcting phone photos of receipts, IDs and certificates saved as PDF.
- Fixing pages in a merged PDF that came from different sources.
- Preparing assignments, exam papers and application forms before you submit or print them.
- Making a PDF easier to read on a phone, tablet or projector.
What each control does:
| Control | What it does | When to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Add / drop area | Adds the PDFs you want to rotate | Drag PDFs in, click Add or browse. Up to 50 files, 150 MB each. |
| Clear | Removes all files from the list | Start again with a different set of PDFs. |
| Left 90° | Turns pages a quarter-turn counter-clockwise | The top of the page points to the right. |
| Right 90° | Turns pages a quarter-turn clockwise | The top of the page points to the left. |
| 180° | Turns pages upside down | The page was scanned or photographed upside down. |
| Pages | All pages, Odd pages, Even pages or Page range… | Enter a range such as 2-4, 7 to rotate only some pages. |
| Rotate PDF | Applies the rotation to every file in the list | Click after choosing the angle and pages. |
| Download | Saves your rotated PDF, or a ZIP for several files | Click once rotation is finished. |
Good to know
- Up to 50 PDFs at once. Each file can be up to 150 MB and 500 pages.
- One setting for the whole batch. The same angle and pages are applied to every file in the list.
- Password-protected PDFs can't be rotated. Remove the password with Unlock PDF first.
- Rotation adds to the current angle. Rotating a page Right 90° twice turns it 180°.
- Rotation is lossless. Pages are not saved as images, so quality and content stay exactly the same.

Which PDF Tool Should I Use?
Use Rotate PDF when pages are sideways or upside down and you only need to turn them. If you need to combine, split, shrink or sign the file after fixing it, these tools pick up where Rotate PDF leaves off.
How to Rotate a PDF (3 Steps)
Add your PDFs
Drag and drop, click Add, or browse to pick the PDFs you want to rotate. Add up to 50 files, each up to 150 MB and 500 pages. A preview of the first page appears for each file.
Choose the angle and pages
Pick Left 90°, Right 90° or 180°, then choose All pages, Odd pages, Even pages or Page range… and enter pages such as 2-4, 7. Click Rotate PDF.
Download your rotated PDF
Click Download. A single file is saved as yourfile-rotated.pdf and several files are saved together in one ZIP. Your original file is not changed.
Tip: if only a few pages are sideways, note their page numbers in your PDF viewer first and use Page range… to rotate just those pages. If you need the fixed file combined with other documents, use Merge PDF after rotating.
Which Rotation Should I Use?
| What you see | What to choose | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| The top of the page points to the right | Left 90° | The page turns a quarter-turn counter-clockwise and stands upright |
| The top of the page points to the left | Right 90° | The page turns a quarter-turn clockwise and stands upright |
| The page is upside down | 180° | The page is flipped the right way up |
| Every second page of a double-sided scan is upside down | 180° with Even pages (or Odd pages) | Only the back sides are flipped |
| A few landscape pages in a portrait document | Left 90° or Right 90° with Page range… | Only those pages are turned |
| Every page is sideways | Left 90° or Right 90° with All pages | The whole document reads the right way |
Getting better results when you rotate
- Check the preview. Make sure you added the right file before you rotate it.
- Note page numbers first. Open the PDF and write down which pages are sideways before you enter a page range.
- Use commas and hyphens for ranges. Enter 2-4, 7 to rotate pages 2, 3, 4 and 7.
- Rotate in two passes when angles differ. Fix the pages that need Left 90° first, then rotate the downloaded file again for pages that need Right 90°.
- Check before you send. Open the downloaded file and scroll through every page to confirm it reads the right way.
After you rotate your PDF
- Make it smaller. Use Compress PDF before you email or upload a scanned file.
- Combine it. Use Merge PDF to join the rotated file with other documents.
- Sign it. Use Sign PDF to add your signature once the pages read the right way.
- Protect it. Use Protect PDF to add a password before you share it.
