Why Convert WebP to JPG?
WebP to JPG conversion re-saves a WebP image in the JPG format, which almost every device, app, website form and print service accepts. Use it when a WebP file will not open, will not upload, or is rejected by software that only supports JPG or PNG.
WebP is a modern image format that websites use because it keeps files small. You usually meet it by accident: you right-click a picture on a website, choose "Save image as", and the file arrives as .webp. Then you try to attach it to an email, upload it to a job portal, drop it into a document or send it to a printer, and it is refused.
JPG solves that, because it is the most widely supported image format there is.
Common situations where people convert WebP to JPG:
- A saved web image will not open in an older photo viewer or editor.
- A form, portal or marketplace says "only JPG or PNG allowed".
- A document, presentation or design tool does not accept WebP.
- An email client, print shop or older device cannot display the file.
- You want one consistent format across a folder of mixed images.
Good to know: JPG cannot store transparency. If your WebP has a transparent background, the transparent areas are filled with the background colour you pick in Settings (white is the usual choice). If you need to keep transparency, convert to PNG instead using Teasoft's WebP to PNG tool.
Another honest note: an animated WebP becomes a single still JPG image. Only one frame is kept.
What You Can Do With This Converter
- Control the quality. The quality slider starts at 90%. Lower values make smaller files, and 85–92% looks identical for most images.
- Choose the background for transparent areas. Pick white, black or any colour, so transparent WebP images do not turn out with an unexpected dark background.
- Convert in bulk. Add up to 50 WebP files at once, each up to 100 MB, and download them all as one ZIP.
- Keep your files private. Images are processed in your browser and never uploaded to a server.
- Add images your way. Drag and drop, browse, or copy an image and press Ctrl+V to paste it.
- No sign-up, no watermark, no fees.
- Works on any device. Windows, Mac, Linux, Android and iPhone, in any modern browser.
Which Image Tool Should I Use?
Choose the format your next step needs. JPG for maximum compatibility, PNG if you need transparency, WebP if the image is going on a website.

Why Do Images Save as WebP Instead of JPG?
Websites serve WebP because it loads faster than JPG or PNG. When you save a picture from such a site, your browser saves exactly the file the site sent, which is why you end up with a .webp file rather than a JPG. The image is not broken. It is just in a format some software does not accept.
What can you do about it?
- Convert it. Use this tool to turn the WebP into a JPG in a few seconds.
- Convert to PNG if it has transparency. Logos and icons often have transparent backgrounds that JPG cannot keep.
- Check the original source. Some websites also offer a JPG or PNG download button.
Where JPG is the safer choice
Job and government portals, online marketplaces, email attachments, print services, older desktop software, school or office document templates and many social or messaging uploads.
Where WebP is fine to keep
Modern websites, blogs and online stores, where smaller files help pages load faster. If you manage a site, you can convert in the other direction with Teasoft's JPG to WebP tool.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I convert WebP to JPG?
Open Teasoft's WebP to JPG converter, add your WebP files, choose the quality, click Convert to JPG and download the results as individual files or a ZIP.
Why does my image save as WebP?
Many websites serve images in WebP because the files are smaller and load faster. When you save the image, your browser stores the WebP file the site sent. Converting it to JPG makes it compatible with more software.
Is WebP the same as JPG?
No. They are different image formats. WebP usually makes smaller files and can store transparency and animation. JPG is older and works with almost every device and program.
Does converting WebP to JPG reduce quality?
Slightly, because JPG is a lossy format. At 85–92% quality the difference is usually not visible. Use a higher setting such as 95% if you want to keep as much detail as possible.
What happens to transparent backgrounds?
JPG does not support transparency, so transparent areas are filled with the background colour you choose in Settings. To keep transparency, convert to PNG instead.
What happens to animated WebP files?
An animated WebP becomes a still JPG image. Only a single frame is kept.
Why is my JPG bigger than the WebP?
WebP compresses more efficiently than JPG, so a JPG made from a WebP at the same visual quality is often larger. Lower the quality slider if you need a smaller file.
Can I convert many WebP files at once?
Yes. Add up to 50 WebP files in one batch, each up to 100 MB, and download them all as a ZIP.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Conversion happens in your browser, and your files are never uploaded.
Should I convert WebP to JPG or PNG?
Choose JPG for photos and the widest compatibility. Choose PNG for logos, icons, screenshots or anything that needs a transparent background.
Can I convert WebP to JPG on my phone?
Yes. The converter works in the browser on Android, iPhone, tablets and computers. You do not need to install an app.
Is the WebP to JPG converter free?
Yes. It is free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no hidden fees.
