PNG Compressor

Make PNG files smaller in seconds, and keep them as PNG with transparency.

Drop in your PNG images and shrink them in one go. Compression reduces the number of colours, which makes logos, icons, screenshots and graphics much lighter while transparent backgrounds stay intact. Choose the quality, optionally limit the width, and download the smaller PNGs one by one or as a ZIP. Add up to 50 files at once. Everything runs in your browser, so nothing is uploaded. Free, with no sign-up and no watermark.

Lower quality reduces the number of colours, like TinyPNG, and makes smaller files. 70% (256 colours) suits most graphics. 95–100% keeps every colour and only recompresses. Transparency is kept.

    Why Compress PNG Files?

To compress a PNG, reduce the number of colours it uses and scale it down if it is wider than it needs to be. Because PNG is lossless, it can't simply "lower the quality" the way JPG does. Teasoft's PNG Compressor does the colour reduction in your browser, keeps transparency, and returns a smaller PNG: add your files, choose the quality (70% suits most graphics), click Compress images and download.

PNG is the right format for logos, icons, screenshots and graphics with transparency, but its files can be surprisingly heavy. A full-screen screenshot or a design export can easily be several megabytes, which slows down web pages, bloats email attachments and runs into upload limits.

PNG is lossless, so it shrinks differently from JPG. There are two main ways to make a PNG smaller, and this tool gives you both:

    1. Reduce the number of colours. A graphic with flat colours rarely needs millions of them. Storing it with a limited palette (up to 256 colours at the default setting) can cut the file size dramatically, often with no visible difference for logos, icons, UI screenshots and illustrations.
    2. Reduce the dimensions. A 3000 px logo shown at 600 px wide wastes most of its pixels. Limiting the width removes them.

Transparent backgrounds are kept either way, which is the main reason to compress a PNG rather than turn it into a JPG.

How to Compress PNG Images (3 Steps)

    Add your PNG images

Drag and drop your files, click browse, or press Ctrl+V to paste. You can add up to 50 PNG files, each up to 100 MB.

    Choose your settings

Open Settings. Keep quality at 70% for most graphics. Raise it for gradients and detailed art, or lower it for the smallest files. If your images are very large, set a maximum width.

    Compress and download

Click Compress images, check the sizes and how the images look, then save each file or use Download to get everything in one ZIP.

Tip: zoom in on the compressed PNG, especially on gradients, shadows and edges, before you replace the original on your site.

PNG, JPG or WebP: which is right?

    ChooseWhen
Compress PNG (this tool)You need PNG, with transparency: logos, icons, UI graphics, design handoffs.
PNG to WebPThe graphic is for a website and you want the smallest file with transparency.
PNG to JPGNo transparency is needed, or it is a photo or a screenshot of a photo.

How to get a PNG under a size limit (for example 100 KB, 200 KB or 1 MB):
This tool does not target an exact file size, so use this routine: set a maximum width that suits the image (width gives the biggest saving), start at 70% quality, then check the size. If it is still too big, lower the quality in steps of 5–10% or reduce the width, and compress again from your original. If a photo-like PNG won’t get small enough, convert it to JPG or WebP instead.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Open Teasoft's PNG Compressor, add your images, keep quality at 70% for most graphics, optionally set a maximum width, click Compress images and download the smaller PNGs individually or as a ZIP.

PNG is lossless, so it doesn't discard detail the way JPG does. To make a PNG much smaller, the tool reduces the number of colours (up to 256 at the default setting) and recompresses the file. For logos, icons, screenshots and flat graphics the difference is usually hard to see.

Yes. Transparent backgrounds and soft edges are kept, so the compressed PNG still works on any background.

It can. At lower quality settings the number of colours is reduced, which is invisible on flat graphics but can cause banding on gradients and soft shadows. At 95–100% every colour is kept and the file is only recompressed, so the look doesn't change. Keep your originals either way.

The default is 70% (256 colours), which suits most logos, icons and screenshots. Use 85–95% for gradients, shadows and detailed art, and 95–100% when every colour must stay exact.

Photos and images with lots of colour and fine detail don't compress well as PNG. Try limiting the width, or switch format: PNG to JPG for photos, or PNG to WebP to keep transparency with a much smaller file.

It scales down any image wider than the value you enter, in pixels, and keeps the proportions. Images that are already narrower are left as they are. Reducing the width is often the biggest saving for oversized screenshots and exports.

The tool doesn't target an exact size, but you can get there in a few tries. Set a smaller maximum width, start at 70% quality and check the file size. Lower the quality a little and compress again from your original until it fits.

It shouldn't. If the compressed version would be the same size or larger, which can happen when the original was already well optimised, the tool keeps your original file and shows "Already well optimised, original kept". To get a smaller file, try a lower quality or a smaller width.

Compress it as PNG if you need PNG, or transparency in a widely supported format. Convert to WebP for a smaller website image that still keeps transparency. Convert to JPG for photos or when transparency isn't needed.

This tool is for PNG files only. For JPG use Teasoft's JPG Compressor, and for JPG, WebP, GIF, BMP or AVIF with a choice of output format use the Image Compressor.

You can add up to 50 files in one batch, each up to 100 MB.
