Up to 20 Images at Once
Drop images here or browse
JPG, PNG, WEBP, HEIC, AVIF, GIF, BMP and SVG. Up to 20 images, 50 MB each. You can also paste with Ctrl+V.
Fast uses a smaller AI model (about 40 MB). Best quality is slower and downloads about 80 MB once, then the browser keeps it.
JPG can’t be transparent, so the background will be white. Choose PNG or WEBP to keep it transparent.
The first time you use this tool, your browser downloads the AI model once. After that it is cached and works much faster, even for the next visit. Large photos are resized to fit 4096 px for speed.
Private by design: your images are processed in your browser and never uploaded. Protected by Cloudflare Turnstile.
How Do You Remove a Background From an Image?
To remove the background from an image, add your photo, choose Fast or Best quality, pick a new background (Transparent, White or a Colour), click Remove background and download the result as a PNG, which keeps transparency. Teasoft's tool uses an AI model that runs in your browser, so your photos are never uploaded. The first time you use it, the browser downloads the model once (about 40 MB for Fast, about 80 MB for Best quality).
Removing a background means separating the subject (a person, a product, a pet) from everything behind it. This tool does it with an AI model that finds the subject automatically. You don't draw around anything. You add the photo, press a button, and get the subject on a transparent, white or coloured background.
The AI runs on your own device, in your browser. That is why your photos are never uploaded, and also why the first use is slower: the browser has to download the model once. After that the model is kept (cached), so later cut-outs start faster, even on your next visit.
Pick your quality:
| Quality | Model size | Choose it when |
|---|---|---|
| Fast | A smaller model, about 40 MB. | You want quick results, you have many images, or you’re on a slow connection. |
| Best quality | A bigger model, about 80 MB (downloaded once). Slower. | You want cleaner edges, for example around hair, or the picture is important. |
Common reasons to remove a background:
- Product photos for a shop, with a clean white or transparent background.
- A profile picture on a plain colour, or one you will crop to a circle.
- A logo, sticker or cut-out to place on another design or a slide.
- A person or object to place over a different background.
- A transparent PNG for a website, document or video thumbnail.
- A cleaner photo with distractions removed from behind the subject.
What each setting does:
| Setting | What it does | When to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Quality | Fast uses a smaller AI model. Best quality is slower and cleaner. | Fast for quick or batch work. Best quality for detail such as hair. |
| New background | Transparent, White or a Colour of your choice. | Transparent for design work. White or a colour for shops and profiles. |
| Save as | PNG (keeps transparency), WebP or JPG. | PNG for transparency. JPG when you picked White or a Colour. |
| Trim | Crops empty space around the subject. | When you want the cut-out sized to the subject. |
| Result / Original | Switches between the cut-out and your photo. | To check the edges before you download. |
Good to know
- The first use downloads the AI model. The browser downloads about 40 MB (Fast) or about 80 MB (Best quality) once, then keeps it, so later runs are much faster. On mobile data this is worth knowing.
- Large photos are resized to fit 4096 px. This keeps the tool fast, and means a very large photo comes out at a smaller size than the original.
- AI isn't perfect. Fine hair, fur, glass, shadows, and subjects whose colours match the background can leave rough or missing edges. Check the result against the original and try Best quality if the edges look wrong.
- It cuts out the subject. It doesn't edit the scene. It removes the background, not objects within a picture, and there is no brush to touch up edges by hand.
- JPG can't be transparent. To keep a transparent background, save as PNG. If you save as JPG, choose White or a Colour.
What You Can Do With This Tool
- AI cut-out in your browser. The subject is found automatically, with no drawing and no upload.
- Fast or Best quality. A smaller model for speed, or a bigger one for cleaner edges.
- Transparent, white or colour background. Keep it see-through, or replace it with white or any colour.
- Trim the empty space. Crop the result tightly around the subject.
- Compare before you download. Switch between Result and Original to check the edges.
- Save as PNG, WebP or JPG. PNG keeps transparency.
- Remove backgrounds in bulk. Add up to 20 images at once, each up to 50 MB.
- Many input formats. JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, AVIF, GIF, BMP and SVG.
- Private by design. Your images are processed in your browser and never uploaded to a server.
- Add images your way. Drag and drop, browse, or paste with Ctrl+V.
- No sign-up, no watermark, no fees.
- Works on any device. Windows, Mac, Linux, Android and iPhone, in any modern browser.
Which Image Tool Should I Use?
Use Remove Background when you want the subject on a transparent, white or coloured background. To change the shape or size of the picture afterwards, use Crop Image or the Image Resizer. For ID photos, the Passport Size Photo Maker has size presets and its own background option.
How to Remove a Background (3 Steps)
Add your images
Drag and drop, click Add, or press Ctrl+V to paste. You can add up to 20 images (JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, AVIF, GIF, BMP or SVG), each up to 50 MB.
Choose the settings
Open Settings. Choose Fast or Best quality. Pick the new background: Transparent, White or a Colour. Choose Save as (PNG keeps transparency) and turn on Trim if you want the empty space around the subject cropped away. The first time you use the tool, wait for the AI model to download.
Remove and download
Click Remove background. Switch between Result and Original to check the edges, then save each file or use Download.
Tip: if the edges look rough, try Best quality, or start from a photo where the subject stands out clearly from the background.
Which Settings Should I Use?
| Your goal | New background | Save as | Quality |
|---|---|---|---|
| Logo, sticker or overlay for a design | Transparent | PNG | Best quality |
| Online shop product photo | White | JPG or PNG | Best quality |
| Profile picture | Colour | JPG or PNG, then crop to a circle | Best quality |
| Slide, poster or video thumbnail | Transparent | PNG | Fast or Best quality |
| Lighter transparent image for a website | Transparent | WebP | Best quality |
| A whole batch of product photos | White | JPG | Fast, then check each result |
| ID or passport-style photo | Use the Passport Size Photo Maker | ||
These are starting points. Check the result against the original before you use it.
Which format should I save as?
| Choose | When |
|---|---|
| PNG | You need the background to stay transparent. The most widely supported choice. |
| WebP | A smaller transparent image for websites and apps that accept WebP. |
| JPG | You chose White or a Colour, and want the smallest file. JPG can’t be transparent. |
Fast or Best quality?
Start with Fast for quick work or many images. If the edges look rough around hair, fur or fine detail, run the same photo again on Best quality. Best quality downloads a bigger model once (about 80 MB), then the browser keeps it.
What does Trim do?
Trim crops the empty space around the subject, so the result is just the cut-out and not the full original frame. Use it for stickers, logos and anything you will place on something else. Leave it off if you want to keep the original size and position.
Taking a photo that is easy to cut out
- Use a background that contrasts with the subject. A dark subject on a light wall is easier than a dark subject on a dark wall.
- Use even light, with no harsh shadows on the subject or the background.
- Keep the subject sharp and fully in frame, with nothing cut off at the edge.
- Avoid backgrounds that match the subject's colours, or that are busy and patterned.
- For products, a plain surface and soft light give much cleaner edges.
After you remove the background
- Check on dark and light backgrounds. A light fringe of the old background can show up on a dark background, so look at the result on the colour you plan to use.
- Make it a circle. Use Crop Image with the circle shape for a round profile picture.
- Make it smaller. Transparent PNGs can be big. Use the PNG Compressor to shrink it and keep the transparency, or save as WebP.
- Set the size. Use the Image Resizer if a shop or site needs particular dimensions.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I remove the background from an image?
Open Teasoft's Remove Background tool, add your photo, choose Fast or Best quality, pick Transparent, White or a Colour, click Remove background and download the result. The AI works in your browser and your photo is never uploaded.
How do I make a PNG with a transparent background?
Choose New background: Transparent and Save as: PNG, then click Remove background. PNG keeps transparency. JPG can't be transparent.
Is the background remover free?
Yes. It is free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no hidden fees.
Are my photos uploaded to a server?
No. The AI model runs in your browser and your photos are never uploaded. That is why the first use downloads the model to your device.
Why is the first run slow?
The first time, your browser downloads the AI model once: about 40 MB for Fast, or about 80 MB for Best quality. After that it is cached and runs much faster, even on your next visit.
What is the difference between Fast and Best quality?
Fast uses a smaller AI model (about 40 MB) and is quicker. Best quality uses a bigger model (about 80 MB, downloaded once) and is slower, but is better for detail such as hair.
Can I add a white or coloured background instead?
Yes. Choose New background: White, or Colour and pick the colour you want. Save as JPG if you don't need transparency, or PNG if you do.
Which format keeps the transparent background?
PNG keeps transparency. WebP can also be transparent. JPG can't hold transparent areas, so choose White or a Colour if you save as JPG.
What does Trim do?
It crops the empty space around the subject, so the result is just the cut-out.
How do I check the result?
Use the Result and Original view to switch between the cut-out and your photo before you download.
Why are the edges rough or part of my subject missing?
Fine hair, fur, glass, shadows and subjects that match the background colour are hard for any AI cut-out. Try Best quality, or a photo where the subject stands out more clearly, and check the result on the colour you plan to use.
Can I touch up the edges by hand?
No. The tool cuts out the subject automatically and has no brush for manual touch-ups.
Can it remove objects from a photo, not just the background?
No. It separates the subject from the background. It doesn't remove objects or people from within a scene.
How many images can I do at once?
Up to 20 images, each up to 50 MB. Large photos are resized to fit 4096 px for speed.
Which file types does it accept?
JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, AVIF, GIF, BMP and SVG. You can save the result as PNG, WebP or JPG.
Can I use it for product photos for an online shop?
Yes. Choose White and Best quality, then check each result. Marketplaces have their own photo rules, so check theirs before you upload.
Why is my transparent PNG so big?
Transparent PNGs keep full detail and are often much bigger than a JPG. Use Teasoft's PNG Compressor, which keeps the transparency, or save as WebP.
Can I remove a background on my phone?
Yes. The tool works in the browser on Android, iPhone, tablets and computers. The first run downloads the AI model, so use Wi-Fi if you can.
