How Do You Generate a Fantasy Name?
To generate a fantasy name, choose a kind and click Generate names. Twelve names appear instantly, each with a first name and a family name that fit the style of that race, such as flowing elf names or strong dwarf names. Choose Any character to get a mix of every race in one list.
Each race has its own sound. Elf names are light and musical, dwarf names are hard and earthy with clan names like Ironforge, orc names are short and harsh, and tiefling names sound dark and mysterious. Town and tavern names help you build a whole world, from quiet villages to taverns like The Prancing Stag.
Names are created on your own device. Every result uses your browser’s secure random number generator (crypto.getRandomValues), so it is fair, and nothing you type is sent to Teasoft.
What each kind gives you:
| Kind | Sound and style | Great for |
|---|---|---|
| Human | Classic names with family names like Ashford | Knights, nobles and townsfolk |
| Elf | Light, flowing names with nature surnames | Rangers, mages and royalty |
| Dwarf | Strong names with forge and stone clan names | Warriors, smiths and miners |
| Orc | Short, harsh names with fierce epithets | Villains, warriors and tribes |
| Tiefling | Dark, mysterious names | Warlocks, rogues and outcasts |
| Halfling and Gnome | Cheerful, playful names | Bards, tinkerers and comic heroes |
| Dragonborn | Proud names with clan names | Paladins and fighters |
| Town and Tavern | Place names and inn names | Maps, quests and world building |
