How Do You Convert Word to PDF?
To convert Word to PDF, add your .docx file, choose a page size, orientation and margin, then click Convert to PDF and download the file. Teasoft's Word to PDF converter runs entirely in your browser, so your documents are never uploaded to a server.
Word files are made for editing, but they don't always look the same on every computer. Fonts change, lines shift and tables break when someone opens your document in a different app or on a phone. Saving it as a PDF fixes the layout so everyone sees the same pages. This free Word to PDF converter does that without Microsoft Word or any other software, turning DOCX resumes, letters, reports, assignments and contracts into PDFs you can share, print, email or upload anywhere.
Everything happens on your own device. Your browser opens the DOCX file with Mammoth, an open-source library that reads Word documents, and turns its content into a clean, well-structured page. That page is drawn onto PDF pages with html2canvas and saved as a standard PDF file with pdf-lib. Long documents flow across as many pages as they need, up to 500 pages per file, using the page size, orientation and margin you picked.
What ends up in your PDF:
| Part of your Word file | In your PDF | Good to know |

| Bold and italic text | Kept | Font colours and highlights are not kept |
| Bulleted and numbered lists | Kept | Nested lists keep their indent |
| Tables | Kept as rows and columns | Use Landscape for very wide tables |
| Images | Kept | Large images are scaled to fit the page width |
| Headers, footers and page numbers | Not included | The PDF is paginated to the page size you choose |
| Text boxes and custom fonts | Not kept | Move important text into the main body first |
| Text in the PDF | Saved as high-quality page images | The layout is fixed, but text can’t be selected or searched |

Which PDF Tool Should I Use?
Use Word to PDF when you have a .docx document you want to share, print or upload as a PDF. If you are starting from a different file type, or need to change the PDF afterwards, one of these tools may suit you better:
How to Convert Word to PDF (3 Steps)
Add your Word file
Drag and drop, click Add, or browse to pick your .docx file. You can add up to 50 files, each up to 150 MB.
Choose your page settings
Pick A4, US Letter or One long page, then set the orientation and margin to suit your document.
Convert and download
Click Convert to PDF, then Download. One file saves as a PDF; several files download together as a ZIP.
Tip: for the closest match to your Word layout, use A4 or US Letter with a Small margin, and switch to Landscape if your document has wide tables. To join several converted files into one, use Merge PDF.
Which Page Settings Should I Use?
| What you have | Settings to choose | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| A resume, letter or report for India, the UK, Europe or Australia | A4, Auto, Small margin | Standard A4 pages ready to print or upload |
| A document for the US or Canada | US Letter, Auto, Small margin | 8.5 x 11 inch pages that print correctly in North America |

Getting better results when you convert
- Save as .docx. If your file ends in .doc, open it in Word, Google Docs or LibreOffice and save it as .docx first.
- Use common fonts. The PDF uses a clean Calibri-style font, so documents written in standard fonts look closest to the original.
- Keep key text in the body. Headers, footers and text boxes aren't included, so move anything important into the main document.
- Pick Landscape for wide tables. It gives columns more room and keeps them easy to read.
- Remove the password first. Word files that need a password to open can't be read, so save an unprotected copy before converting.
After you convert your Word file
- Combine files. Use Merge PDF to join several PDFs into one.
- Make it smaller. Use Compress PDF before you email or upload it.
- Sign it. Use Sign PDF to add your signature to the finished document.
- Protect it. Use Protect PDF to add a password before you share it.
