How Do You Convert PDF to JPG?
To convert PDF to JPG, add your PDF file, choose a resolution (150 DPI is the default) and a quality level, type the page numbers if you only need some pages, then click Convert to JPG and download your images. Teasoft's converter runs entirely in your browser, so your PDF is never uploaded to a server.
PDF is the best format for documents, but not for everything. You can't post a PDF as a WhatsApp status or on Instagram, drop it into most slides as a picture, or upload it to a form that only accepts photos. A PDF to JPG converter solves this by turning each page of your PDF into a standard JPG image that opens, shares and uploads anywhere, on any phone or computer.
Everything happens on your own device. Your browser opens the PDF with pdf.js, the open-source PDF engine from Mozilla, draws each page and saves it as a JPG right there. Nothing is sent to a server, so it is safe to use for private files such as ID cards, certificates, mark sheets, bank statements and signed forms.
Pick your resolution:
| Resolution | Image size for an A4 page | Choose it when |
|---|---|---|
| 72 DPI, small | About 595 × 842 px | You want thumbnails, quick previews or the smallest possible files. |
| 110 DPI, screen | About 909 × 1286 px | You will view the images on a phone or share them on WhatsApp and social media. |
| 150 DPI, standard (default) | About 1240 × 1754 px | Most everyday uses: email, slides, websites and online forms. |
| 200 DPI, sharp | About 1654 × 2339 px | The pages have small text, tables or detailed drawings you need to zoom into. |
| 300 DPI, print | About 2480 × 3508 px | You will print the images or need the sharpest possible result. |
Common reasons to convert PDF to JPG:
- Sharing a page on WhatsApp, Instagram or other apps that show images but not PDFs.
- Uploading certificates, mark sheets or ID proof to job, university or government portals that accept only JPG.
- Adding a PDF page to a PowerPoint, Word document or web page as a picture.
- Pulling a single chart, page or slide out of a long report.
- Creating preview images of brochures, menus, e-books or catalogues.
- Viewing a document on a device or app that cannot open PDF files.
What each setting does:
| Setting | What it does | When to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Resolution | Sets how many pixels each page gets, from 72 DPI to 300 DPI (default 150 DPI). Higher DPI gives larger, sharper images and bigger files. | 150 DPI for everyday use. 200–300 DPI for small text and printing. 72–110 DPI for quick previews and sharing. |
| Quality | Sets how much each JPG is compressed, from 10% to 100% (default 88%). | 85–100% for text, charts and printing. 60–80% when you need smaller files for email or uploads. |
| Pages | Chooses which pages to convert, for example 1-3, 5, 8- (8- means page 8 to the end). Leave it empty to convert every page. | When you need only some pages, such as one certificate from a long PDF. |
Each page is saved as its own JPG and named after your PDF with the page number, for example report-page-1.jpg. A single image downloads directly, and several images download together in one ZIP file.
Good to know
- Only PDF files are accepted. The tool takes .pdf files. To go the other way and turn images into a PDF, use JPG to PDF.
- Password-protected PDFs can't be converted. If you know the password, remove it first with Unlock PDF, then convert.
- Pages are drawn on a white background. JPG does not support transparency, so any transparent areas appear white. For lossless images, use PDF to PNG.
- Text in the JPG is not editable. Each page becomes a picture, so its text can't be selected, searched or edited. Keep your original PDF if you need that.
- Very large pages need a lower resolution. To keep your browser from running out of memory, a page can be at most 16,384 pixels on a side or about 67 megapixels (about 16 megapixels on iPhone and iPad). If a page is bigger, choose a lower DPI. Up to 500 pages are converted from each PDF.

Which PDF Tool Should I Use?
Use PDF to JPG when you need small, widely supported images of your PDF pages for sharing, uploading or adding to slides. If you need perfectly crisp text with no compression, use PDF to PNG. To pull pages out as a new PDF instead of images, use Split PDF. The tools below help with the next step.
How to Convert PDF to JPG (3 Steps)
Add your PDF files
Drag and drop, click Add, or browse to pick your PDFs. Add up to 50 files, each up to 150 MB, and remove any you don't need.
Choose the settings
Pick a resolution and JPG quality. To convert only some pages, type them in the Pages box, for example 1-3, 5. Leave it empty to convert every page.
Convert and download
Click Convert to JPG, then Download. A single image downloads directly, and multiple images come together in one ZIP file.
Tip: for certificates and documents you will upload to a government, university or job portal, choose 150 DPI and 85–90% quality so text stays readable and files stay small. For printing, choose 300 DPI and 100% quality. If a portal has a strict size limit such as 100 KB or 200 KB, lower the resolution first, or shrink the images afterwards with Compress JPG.
Which Settings Should I Use?
| Your goal | Resolution | Quality | Pages |
|---|---|---|---|
| Share a page on WhatsApp or social media | 110 DPI | 80% | Just that page |
| Upload a certificate or ID to an online form | 150 DPI | 85–90% | The pages you need |
| Add pages to slides or a document | 150 DPI | 90% | All or selected |
| Read small text or zoom into drawings | 200 DPI | 90% | All |
| Print the pages | 300 DPI | 100% | All |
| Smallest files for email | 72–110 DPI | 60–70% | All |
These are starting points. Open the images and check them before you send or upload.
JPG or PNG?
| Choose | When |
|---|---|
| JPG (this tool) | You want small files that open everywhere, such as for scanned pages, photos, sharing and online forms. |
| PNG (PDF to PNG) | You want lossless images with perfectly sharp text and lines, and a bigger file size is fine. |
What does DPI mean?
DPI (dots per inch) sets how many pixels each inch of the PDF page becomes. An A4 page at 150 DPI becomes about 1240 × 1754 pixels. At 300 DPI it is about 2480 × 3508 pixels, twice as wide and tall, with a file around four times bigger.
Why convert only some pages?
It is faster and gives you fewer files to sort through. Type 2 for a single page, 1-3 for a range, or 8- for page 8 to the end, and separate several choices with commas.
Getting better results from PDF to JPG
- Use 150 DPI or higher for text. Pages with small print stay readable at 150–200 DPI.
- Keep quality at 85% or more for documents. Low quality adds blur and specks around letters and lines.
- Lower the resolution before the quality. Dropping from 300 to 150 DPI cuts file size far more than lowering quality, and text stays clean.
- Convert only the pages you need. It is faster and saves you sorting through extra images.
- Scanned PDFs are already images. Going above the resolution they were scanned at (often 200–300 DPI) makes bigger files, not sharper ones.
After you convert to JPG
- Make the images smaller. Use Compress JPG to fit upload limits such as 100 KB or 200 KB.
- Change the size in pixels. Use Resize Image to match a portal’s exact width and height.
- Need lossless images instead? Use PDF to PNG for sharp text with no compression.
- Turn them back into a PDF. Use JPG to PDF to combine edited images into one document.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I convert PDF to JPG?
Open Teasoft's PDF to JPG Converter, add your PDF, choose the resolution and quality, then click Convert to JPG and download your images. It takes only a few seconds in any modern browser.
How do I convert only one page of a PDF to JPG?
Type the page number in the Pages box, for example 3, before you click Convert to JPG. You can also enter ranges such as 1-3, 5, 8- to pick several pages.
Is the PDF to JPG converter free?
Yes. It is free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no hidden charges.
Are my PDF files uploaded to a server?
No. The pages are converted in your browser and your PDF never leaves your device, so it is safe for private and confidential files.
Does converting PDF to JPG reduce quality?
JPG uses compression, but you control it. At the default 150 DPI and 88% quality, pages look sharp on screen. For the best result, choose 300 DPI and 100% quality.
Will each page become a separate JPG?
Yes. Every page is saved as its own image, named like report-page-1.jpg, report-page-2.jpg and so on. Several images download together in one ZIP file.
What resolution (DPI) should I choose?
150 DPI suits most uses. Choose 200–300 DPI for printing or pages with small text, and 72–110 DPI for quick sharing and the smallest files.
Can I convert multiple PDFs at once?
Yes. Add up to 50 PDFs, each up to 150 MB. All the images download together in one ZIP file.
How many pages can I convert from one PDF?
Up to 500 pages from each PDF. Use the Pages box to convert only the pages you need.
Can I convert a password-protected PDF?
No. A PDF that needs a password to open can't be converted. If you know the password, remove it with Unlock PDF first, then convert.
Why are my JPG files so large?
File size depends on the resolution, the quality setting and how detailed each page is. Choose a lower DPI or quality, or shrink the images afterwards with Compress JPG.
Can I edit the text in the JPG images?
No. Each page becomes a picture, so its text can't be selected, searched or edited. Keep your original PDF if you need editable text.
What happens to transparent areas?
They become white. Each page is drawn on a white background because the JPG format does not support transparency.
Which file types does it accept?
PDF files (.pdf) only. To turn images into a PDF, use JPG to PDF.
What is the difference between PDF to JPG and PDF to PNG?
JPG makes smaller files and is best for scans, photos and sharing. PNG is lossless, so it keeps text and lines perfectly crisp but makes bigger files.
Will my images have a watermark?
No. Your JPG images contain only your PDF pages, with no watermark or logo added.
Can I convert PDF to JPG on my phone?
Yes. The tool works in the browser on Android phones and iPhones, as well as tablets, Windows PCs and Macs. No app is needed.
Do I need an internet connection?
Yes, to open the page, load the PDF engine and run the security check. The conversion itself happens on your device, and your PDF is not uploaded.
