Write bold, italic and underlined LinkedIn posts, add bullet lists, and copy them in one click.
LinkedIn doesn't let you format text, so this free LinkedIn text formatter does it for you. Type or paste your post, select words and make them bold, italic, underlined or struck through, switch to fonts like script or monospace, and add bullets, ticks or numbered lists. Tidy the spacing, check the live LinkedIn preview and the 3,000-character counter, then copy your post and paste it straight into LinkedIn. Your text never leaves your browser, and the tool is free, with no sign-up and no watermark.

How Do You Format Text on LinkedIn?
To format text on LinkedIn, type or paste your post into the editor, select the words you want to change and click B (bold), I (italic), U (underline) or S (strikethrough). Add bullets or numbered lists from the Lists menu, check the preview, then click Copy post and paste it into LinkedIn. The formatting stays because the tool turns your letters into Unicode characters that LinkedIn shows on desktop and mobile.
LinkedIn posts, comments, headlines and About sections only accept plain text, so there is no bold or italic button. A LinkedIn text formatter gets around this by swapping normal letters for look-alike Unicode symbols, such as 𝗛𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗼 for bold. Because they are characters, not styling, they survive copy and paste and appear for everyone who reads your post.
The formatting happens in your browser, so your post is never uploaded or stored. You get a preview card that looks like a real LinkedIn post, a live character and word count against LinkedIn’s 3,000-character limit, and a marker for the first ~210 characters that show before “see more”. Undo, redo, paste from clipboard, a sample post and download as a .txt file are all built in.
Common reasons to format LinkedIn posts:
- Make your hook stand out in the first two lines, before "see more".
- Highlight key numbers, results or takeaways in bold.
- Break long posts into scannable bullet or numbered lists.
- Add dividers and emojis to separate the parts of a story.
- Style your headline, About section or job descriptions.
- Format comments, event posts and company page updates.
What each option does:
| Option | What it does | When to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Bold, Italic, Bold italic | Turns selected text into Unicode bold or italic letters. | Hooks, key phrases and numbers. |
| Underline & Strikethrough | Adds a line under or through each character. | Emphasis, or showing a before and after. |
| Fonts | Sans bold, Sans italic, Monospace, Script, Bold script, Fraktur, Double-struck and Small caps. | Short headings or a name. Avoid whole paragraphs. |
| Lists | Bullets, arrows, checkmarks, green ticks, pointers, sparkles, checkboxes, numbers and emoji numbers. | Steps, tips, features and checklists. |
| Insert | Ready-made dividers and popular emojis. | Separating sections and adding visual cues. |
| Clean up | Clear styling, tidy spacing, space out lines, remove blank lines. | Fixing text pasted from Word, Google Docs or ChatGPT. |
Good to know
- LinkedIn shows about 210 characters before "see more". Put your hook and most important point first.
- Posts can be up to 3,000 characters. The counter shows your characters and words as you type.
- Styled letters are Unicode symbols, so LinkedIn search may not match them and screen readers may spell them out. Use them for short highlights, not full paragraphs.
- Decorative fonts like Fraktur or Double-struck may not display on very old phones. Bold and italic work almost everywhere.
- Your text stays on your device. Nothing is uploaded, saved or shared.

Which Formatting Should I Use for Each Post?

|---|---|---|---|
| Personal story | Bold hook, italic for thoughts | Short lines, no list | Space out lines so it reads easily |
| Tips or lessons post | Bold title | Numbered or emoji numbers | One idea per line |
| Job update or announcement | Bold key news | Green ticks for highlights | Add a 🎉 or 🚀 emoji |
| Product or service launch | Bold feature names | Checkmarks or arrows | End with a clear call to action |
| Event or webinar promo | Bold date and time | Pointers 👉 | Use a divider before the details |
| Headline or About section | Bold or small caps for a few words | Bullets for skills | Keep keywords in plain text for search |
Writing a LinkedIn post that is easy to read:
- Start with a strong one-line hook within the first 210 characters.
- Keep paragraphs to one to three lines, with a blank line between them.
- Use bold for a few key words, not whole sentences.
- Use lists for steps, tips or results.
- End with a question or call to action to invite comments.
After you format your post, you can paste the same text into LinkedIn comments, messages, your headline, About section or experience entries. Because the formatting is made of Unicode characters, it also works on X (Twitter), Facebook, Instagram, Threads and other sites that only accept plain text.

Styled letters are different Unicode characters, so LinkedIn search may not match them. Keep important keywords, names and hashtags in plain text.
