How Do You Convert PDF to WEBP?
To convert PDF to WEBP, add your PDF file, choose a resolution (150 DPI is the default) and a quality level (85% is the default), type the page numbers if you only need some pages, then click Convert to WEBP and download your images. Teasoft's converter runs entirely in your browser, so your PDF is never uploaded to a server.
PDF is great for documents, but heavy for the web. Browsers, websites and apps load images far faster than PDFs, and WEBP is the modern image format built for exactly that job. A PDF to WEBP converter turns each page of your PDF into a WEBP image that is typically 25–35% smaller than a JPG of similar quality, so your pages load faster, use less storage and still look sharp on any screen.
Everything happens on your own device. Your browser opens the PDF with pdf.js, the open-source PDF engine from Mozilla, draws each page and saves it as a WEBP image right there. Nothing is sent to a server, so it is safe to use for private files such as reports, contracts, invoices, brochures and internal documents.
Pick your resolution:
| Resolution | Image size for an A4 page | Choose it when |
|---|---|---|
| 72 DPI, small | About 595 × 842 px | You want thumbnails, quick previews or the smallest possible files. |
| 110 DPI, screen | About 909 × 1286 px | The images will be shown on phones, in blog posts or on social media. |
| 150 DPI, standard (default) | About 1240 × 1754 px | Most everyday uses: websites, WordPress, online stores, slides and email. |
| 200 DPI, sharp | About 1654 × 2339 px | The pages have small text, tables or detailed drawings readers need to zoom into. |
| 300 DPI, print | About 2480 × 3508 px | You need the sharpest possible result for archiving or printing. |
Common reasons to convert PDF to WEBP:
- Publishing PDF pages on a website or blog, where WEBP images load faster than embedded PDFs, JPGs or PNGs.
- Improving page speed and Core Web Vitals by replacing heavy page previews with lighter WEBP files.
- Showing brochures, menus, catalogues or e-book pages as images in an online store or the WordPress media library.
- Creating preview thumbnails of reports, slides or documents for a portfolio or download page.
- Saving storage and bandwidth when you keep or share many page images.
- Pulling a single chart, page or slide out of a long PDF as a lightweight image.
What each setting does:
| Setting | What it does | When to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Resolution | Sets how many pixels each page gets, from 72 DPI to 300 DPI (default 150 DPI). Higher DPI gives larger, sharper images and bigger files. | 150 DPI for websites and everyday use. 200–300 DPI for small text and high detail. 72–110 DPI for thumbnails and previews. |
| Quality | Sets how much each WEBP is compressed, from 10% to 100% (default 85%). | 80–100% for text, charts and diagrams. 60–75% when you need the smallest files for fast-loading pages. |
| Pages | Chooses which pages to convert, for example 1-3, 5, 8- (8- means page 8 to the end). Leave it empty to convert every page. | When you need only some pages, such as the cover of an e-book or one chart from a long report. |
Each page is saved as its own WEBP and named after your PDF with the page number, for example report-page-1.webp. A single image downloads directly, and several images download together in one ZIP file.
Good to know
- WEBP uses lossy compression. Each image is compressed at the quality you choose. At 80% or more, text and lines stay clear for normal viewing.
- Transparent areas become white. Every page is drawn on a white background, the same way it looks when printed.
- The text becomes part of the image. Each page becomes a picture, so its text can't be selected, searched or edited. Keep your original PDF if you need that.
- Very large pages need a lower resolution. To keep your browser from running out of memory, a page can be at most 16,384 pixels on a side or about 67 megapixels (about 16 megapixels on iPhone and iPad). If a page is bigger, choose a lower DPI. Up to 500 pages are converted from each PDF.
- Your browser must be able to create WEBP files. Chrome, Edge and Firefox can. If yours can't, the tool shows a message, and you can use PDF to JPG instead.

Which PDF Tool Should I Use?
Use PDF to WEBP when you want small, fast-loading images for websites, blogs, online stores and apps. If your goal is different, one of these tools may suit you better:
How to Convert PDF to WEBP (3 Steps)
Add your PDF files
Drag and drop, click Add, or browse to pick your PDFs. Add up to 50 files, each up to 150 MB, and remove any you don't need.
Choose the settings
Pick a resolution and WEBP quality. To convert only some pages, type them in the Pages box, for example 1-3, 5. Leave it empty to convert every page.
Convert and download
Click Convert to WEBP, then Download. A single image downloads directly, and multiple images come together in one ZIP file.
Tip: for website and blog images, choose 150 DPI and 80–85% quality. You get sharp, readable pages at a fraction of the size of a JPG or PNG, which helps your pages load faster. For pages with small text that readers will zoom into, choose 200 DPI and 90% quality. For the smallest possible files, lower the resolution first, then the quality, or shrink the images afterwards with Compress WEBP.
Which Settings Should I Use?
| Your goal | Resolution | Quality | Pages |
|---|---|---|---|
| Publish pages on a website or blog | 150 DPI | 80–85% | All or selected |
| Show menus, brochures or catalogue pages in an online store | 110–150 DPI | 80% | The pages you need |
| Create thumbnails for a download or portfolio page | 72 DPI | 70% | Just the cover, for example 1 |
| Read small text or zoom into drawings | 200 DPI | 90% | All |
| Keep a high-detail copy of every page | 300 DPI | 95–100% | All |
| Smallest files for email or chat | 72–110 DPI | 60–70% | All |
These are starting points. Open the images and check them before you publish or share them.
WEBP, JPG or PNG?
| Format | Choose it when |
|---|---|
| WEBP (this tool) | You want the smallest files for websites, blogs and apps, with quality as good as JPG or better. |
| JPG (PDF to JPG) | You need maximum compatibility, for example for government, job or university portals that accept only JPG, or older apps. |
| PNG (PDF to PNG) | You want lossless images with perfectly sharp text and lines, and a bigger file size is fine. |
What does DPI mean?
DPI (dots per inch) sets how many pixels each inch of the PDF page becomes. An A4 page at 150 DPI becomes about 1240 × 1754 pixels. At 300 DPI it is about 2480 × 3508 pixels, twice as wide and tall, with a file around four times bigger.
Why is WEBP smaller?
WEBP, developed by Google, uses more efficient compression than JPG. At the same visual quality, a WEBP image is usually 25–35% smaller, which means faster pages, less bandwidth and better Core Web Vitals scores.
Why convert only some pages?
It is faster and gives you fewer files to sort through. Type 2 for a single page, 1-3 for a range, or 8- for page 8 to the end, and separate several choices with commas.
Getting better results from PDF to WEBP
- Use 150 DPI or higher for text. Pages with small print look blurry at 72–110 DPI, especially on high-resolution screens.
- Keep quality at 80% or more for documents. Low quality can make the edges of text and lines look soft or smudged.
- Lower the resolution before the quality. Dropping from 300 to 150 DPI cuts file size by about three quarters while text stays sharp.
- Convert only the pages you need. It is faster and saves memory, especially with large PDFs.
- Scanned PDFs are already images. Going above the resolution they were scanned at adds file size, not detail.
After you convert to WEBP
- Make the images even smaller. Use Compress WEBP to squeeze out extra kilobytes for faster pages.
- Change the size in pixels. Use Resize Image to match your website’s exact width and height.
- Need JPG or PNG instead? Use WEBP to JPG or WEBP to PNG for apps and portals that don’t accept WEBP.
- Turn them back into a PDF. Use WEBP to PDF to combine your images into one document.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I convert PDF to WEBP?
Open Teasoft's PDF to WEBP Converter, add your PDF, choose the resolution and quality, then click Convert to WEBP and Download. It takes a few seconds and runs in your browser.
How do I convert only one page of a PDF to WEBP?
Type the page number in the Pages box, for example 3, before you click Convert to WEBP. Use ranges like 1-3 or 8- to convert several pages.
Is the PDF to WEBP converter free?
Yes. It is free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no hidden charges.
Are my PDF files uploaded to a server?
No. The pages are converted in your browser and your PDF never leaves your device, so it is safe for private and confidential documents.
Is WEBP better than JPG?
For websites, usually yes. WEBP images are typically 25–35% smaller than JPGs of similar quality, so pages load faster. JPG is still the safer choice for portals and older apps that accept only JPG.
Will each page become a separate WEBP?
Yes. Every page is saved as its own image, named like report-page-1.webp. Several images download together in one ZIP file.
What resolution (DPI) should I choose?
150 DPI suits most websites and documents. Choose 200–300 DPI for small text or fine detail, and 72–110 DPI for thumbnails and quick previews.
Can I convert multiple PDFs at once?
Yes. Add up to 50 PDFs, each up to 150 MB. All the images download together in one ZIP file.
How many pages can I convert from one PDF?
Up to 500 pages from each PDF. Use the Pages box to convert only the ones you need.
Can I convert a password-protected PDF?
No. A PDF that needs a password to open can't be converted. If you know the password, remove it first with Unlock PDF, then convert the file.
Why are my WEBP files larger than expected?
File size depends on the resolution, the quality setting and how detailed the pages are. Lower the DPI first, then the quality, or shrink the images with Compress WEBP.
Can I edit the text in the WEBP images?
No. Each page becomes a picture, so its text can't be selected, searched or edited. Keep your original PDF if you need editable text.
What happens to transparent areas?
They become white. Each page is drawn on a white background, the same way it looks when printed.
Which file types does it accept?
PDF files (.pdf) only. To turn WEBP images into a PDF, use WEBP to PDF.
Does WEBP work everywhere?
WEBP opens in all modern browsers, including Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari, and is supported by WordPress, Android, iOS, Windows and macOS. Some older apps and upload portals accept only JPG; for those, use PDF to JPG.
Will my images have a watermark?
No. Your WEBP images contain only your PDF pages, with no watermark or logo added.
Can I convert PDF to WEBP on my phone?
Yes, on Android with Chrome, Edge or Firefox. Some browsers, such as Safari on iPhone and iPad, may not be able to create WEBP files. If so, the tool tells you, and you can use PDF to JPG instead.
Do I need an internet connection?
Yes, to open the page, load the PDF engine and run the security check. The conversion itself happens on your device, and your files are never uploaded.
