How Do You Create a Strong Password?
To create a strong password, choose Characters, set the length to 16 or more, include uppercase, lowercase, numbers and symbols, and click Generate password. A random password appears instantly with its strength in bits. Click the copy button beside it to use it right away.
A strong password is long, random and used for only one account. Short or reused passwords are easy to guess or leak. A passphrase of random words, such as lantern-meadow-ember-orchard, is long and easier to type. Store your passwords in a password manager so you only need to remember one.
Passwords are created on your own device. The generator uses your browser’s secure random number generator (crypto.getRandomValues), and the passwords are never sent to Teasoft or stored on a server.
How strong is your password?
| Strength | Bits of entropy | Example settings |
|---|---|---|
| Weak | Under 50 bits | 8 lowercase letters |
| Fair | 50 to 69 bits | 10 characters with letters and numbers |
| Strong | 70 to 99 bits | 12 to 15 characters with all character types |
| Very strong | 100 bits or more | 16+ characters with all types, or a passphrase of 8+ words |

What Should I Do After Creating a Password?
Once you have a strong password, use these free Teasoft tools for the rest of your setup.
How to Create a Secure Password
Choose a type
Pick Characters for a classic password, or Passphrase for random words that are easier to type.
Set the length and characters
Use 16 or more characters, or 6 or more words, and include every character type the site allows.
Generate and copy
Click Generate password, check the strength, then copy it and save it in your password manager.
Tip: if a website will not accept symbols, set Symbols to Skip and add a few extra characters to the length. A 20-character password with letters and numbers is still very strong.
Which Settings Should I Choose?
| Your use | Settings | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Email and banking | 20 characters, all types | Your most important accounts need the most strength |
| Everyday accounts | 16 characters, all types | Strong and accepted by most sites |
| Password manager master password | Passphrase, 6 to 8 words | Very strong and easier to remember |
| Wi-Fi password | 16 characters, no symbols | Strong and easy to type on TVs and phones |
| Sites with strict rules | Skip symbols, add length | Stays strong when symbols are not allowed |
| Test accounts | 12 characters, 10 passwords | Quick unique passwords for testing |
Tips for keeping passwords safe
- Never reuse passwords. One leak should not unlock your other accounts.
- Turn on two-factor login. Add a second check to your important accounts.
- Use a password manager. It remembers every password for you.
- Do not share passwords. Never send them by email or chat.
- Change leaked passwords. Replace any password that may have been exposed.
After you create your password
- Save it safely. Paste it into your password manager before you leave the page.
- Clear the list. Click Clear when you are done, especially on a shared device.
- Pick a username. Find a unique handle with the Username & Gamertag Generator.
- Need a number code? Use the Random Number Generator for random digits.

A passphrase is a password made of random words joined by hyphens. It is long and strong but easier to type and remember.
