Passport Size Photo Maker
Make passport, visa and ID photos from your own photo, at home.
Add a front-facing photo, pick your size (India passport, visa or OCI, PAN card, US, UK, Schengen / EU, Canada, Australia, China or a custom size), line your head up with the guide, and choose a plain background colour. Then download a single photo for an online application, or a 4×6, 5×7 or A4 sheet to print and cut. Everything is done in your browser, so your photo is never uploaded. Free, with no sign-up and no watermark.

JPG, PNG, WEBP, GIF, BMP or AVIF, up to 50 MB. A clear, front-facing photo works best. You can also paste with Ctrl+V.
Drag the photo to position it. Scroll, pinch or use the slider to zoom.
The oval is a rough guide for head size and position. It is not an official check, so compare with your country’s rules.
Swaps a plain wall behind you for the colour below. Works best with an evenly lit wall and clothes that differ from it. Check the edges before using it.
Sets how many pixels the photo has, and is saved in the file for print shops. Ignored when the custom size is in pixels.
Shows behind your photo, and replaces the wall if “Replace plain background” is on.
A sheet repeats the photo as many times as fit, ready to print and cut.
JPG gives much smaller files. Sheets are always saved at high quality.
For forms with an upload limit, like 50 or 100 KB. Works with JPG single photos. If it can’t fit, lower the resolution.
Private by design: your photo is edited in your browser and never uploaded. Protected by Cloudflare Turnstile.
Why Make Your Own Passport Photo?
To make a passport size photo online, add a clear, front-facing photo, choose your country's size (for example 35 × 45 mm for an Indian passport), use the head guide to position and zoom, pick a background colour, and click Create passport photo. Download a single photo for online applications, or a 4×6, 5×7 or A4 sheet to print and cut. Teasoft's tool works in your browser, so your photo is never uploaded. Always compare the result with your country's official photo rules.
Passport, visa, ID and exam photos all ask for the same thing: a plain background, a face of the right size in the right place, and the exact dimensions of the form. A photo studio does that for you, but it costs money and a trip. With a decent phone photo and this tool, you can do the cropping and sizing yourself in a couple of minutes.
You choose the photo size, move and zoom the picture so your head sits in the guide, choose the background colour, and download either a single photo (for an online upload) or a sheet with several copies on it, ready to print and cut. Your photo is edited in your browser and never leaves your device, which matters for something as personal as an ID photo.
Common reasons to make your own passport photo:
- You need a passport, visa or OCI photo and want to save a trip to a studio.
- A form or portal asks for a specific photo size, such as a PAN card photo.
- You need several copies on one sheet to print and cut at a lab or at home.
- An online application has a file size limit for the photo.
- You need the same photo in more than one size.
- You want to keep your photo private instead of uploading it to a website.
What each setting does:
| Setting | What it does | When to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Photo size | Sets the finished size, from the presets or a custom size in mm or px. | Always. Pick the one that matches your application. |
| Zoom and position | Scales and moves your photo inside the frame. | To fit your head and shoulders to the guide. |
| Show head guide | Shows an oval as a rough guide for head size and position. | While positioning. It is not an official check. |
| Replace plain background | Swaps a plain wall behind you for the background colour you choose. | When your own wall is plain and evenly lit. Check the edges afterwards. |
| Background colour | White, Off-white, Light blue or Red, or a custom colour. | Match your application’s requirement. |
| Resolution | 200, 300 (default) or 600 DPI. Sets how many pixels the photo has. | 300 DPI for printing. 200 DPI for smaller files. 600 DPI for very high-quality prints. |
| Download | A single photo, or a 4×6 in, 5×7 in or A4 sheet. | Single for online uploads. A sheet for printing and cutting. |
| Save as | JPG or PNG. | JPG for smaller files. PNG if you need lossless. |
| Max file size | An optional KB limit for JPG single photos. | When a form has an upload limit, such as 50 or 100 KB. |
Good to know
- It is not an official checker. The head guide is only a rough guide. Passport and visa rules differ by country, change over time, and are enforced by the issuing authority, so compare your photo with the official rules before you submit it.
- A good starting photo matters most. A clear, front-facing photo with even light and a plain background gives the best result. A tool can crop and resize, but it can't fix blur, shadows or a tilted head.
- Background replacement has limits. It works best with an evenly lit plain wall and clothes that differ from it. Check the edges around your hair and shoulders before using the result.
- Acceptance isn't guaranteed. Some authorities and portals have extra rules, or prefer professionally printed photos. Always follow the instructions for your application.
What You Can Do With This Tool
- Nine size presets, plus custom. India passport, India visa / OCI, PAN card, USA passport / visa, UK passport, Schengen / EU, Canada passport, Australia passport, China passport, or your own size in mm or px.
- Position and zoom with a head guide. Move and zoom the photo so your head fits the oval, with a reset button.
- Choose or replace the background. White, Off-white, Light blue, Red or a custom colour, with an option to swap a plain wall for that colour.
- Pick the resolution. 200 DPI for smaller files, 300 DPI (default) for standard printing, or 600 DPI for large, detailed prints.
- Single photo or print sheet. Download one photo, or a 4×6 in, 5×7 in or A4 sheet that repeats the photo as many times as fit.
- JPG or PNG output. JPG for smaller files, PNG if you want lossless.
- Upload-size limit for forms. Set a maximum file size in KB for JPG single photos.
- Private by design. Your photo is edited in your browser and never uploaded to a server.
- Add your photo your way. Choose a file, drag and drop, or paste with Ctrl+V.
- No sign-up, no watermark, no fees.
- Works on any device. Windows, Mac, Linux, Android and iPhone, in any modern browser.
Which Image Tool Should I Use?
Use the Passport Size Photo Maker when you need a correctly sized ID photo. If you already have a photo that only needs a smaller file size, use a compressor. If your photo is a HEIC from an iPhone, convert it to JPG first.
How to Make a Passport Size Photo (4 Steps)
Add your photo
Choose a file, drag and drop, or press Ctrl+V to paste. Use a clear, front-facing photo (JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP or AVIF, up to 50 MB).
Pick the size
Open Settings and choose your size from the presets (for example India passport, 35 × 45 mm), or enter a custom size in mm or px.
Position and set the background
Turn on the head guide, then zoom and move the photo so your head and shoulders sit in the right place. Choose a background colour, and turn on Replace plain background if your own wall is plain and evenly lit. Check the edges.
Choose the download and create
Select Single photo for an online upload, or a 4×6 in, 5×7 in or A4 sheet for printing. Choose the resolution and format, add a Max file size if the form needs one, then click Create passport photo and download.
Tip: compare your finished photo with your country’s official photo rules before you submit or print it. The head guide is only a rough help.
Which Settings Should I Use?

| Australia passport | 35 × 45 mm | 413 × 531 px |
| China passport | 33 × 48 mm | 390 × 567 px |
Sizes are the ones built into the tool. Requirements can change and can differ for different applications (for example a paper form versus an online upload), so confirm your application’s exact rules.
Which download should I choose?
| Choose | When |
|---|---|
| Single photo | An online application or upload, or a single print. |
| 4×6 in sheet | Printing at a photo lab or kiosk, which commonly offers 4×6 in prints. |
| 5×7 in sheet | A 5×7 in print, for more copies or larger sizes on one sheet. |
| A4 sheet | Printing at home or at a copy shop on A4 paper. |
A sheet repeats your photo as many times as fit, ready to print and cut.
Which resolution should I choose?
| Choose | When |
|---|---|
| 200 DPI | Online uploads where a smaller file is easier. |
| 300 DPI (default) | Standard printing. A good choice for most uses. |
| 600 DPI | Very high-quality prints. Files are large. |
Which background colour?
Choose the colour your application asks for. The tool offers White, Off-white, Light blue and Red, or you can pick a custom colour. Some applications ask for a plain white or off-white background and others for different colours, so check the rules for your passport, visa or form. If your own wall is plain and evenly lit, Replace plain background can swap it for the colour you choose.
Printing your sheet
- Print at 100% (actual size) and turn off “fit to page” or “scale to fit”, or the photos will be the wrong size.
- Use photo paper if you can, or ask a lab to print the sheet at its original size.
- Cut along the edges of each photo with a ruler and a sharp blade or scissors.
- Check the size of one printed photo with a ruler before you use the rest.
Taking a good starting photo
- Stand in front of a plain, light-coloured wall in even daylight, with no harsh shadows on your face or the wall.
- Face the camera straight on, with your head level and a neutral expression. Have someone else take the photo and hold the camera at eye level, so there is no wide-angle distortion.
- Keep clothes in a colour that differs from the wall, so the background can be replaced cleanly.
- Take it in portrait orientation, from a short distance, and use the zoom slider in the tool rather than a digital zoom on your phone.
- Don't use filters or retouching. Rules about glasses, head coverings and expressions vary by country, so read the official guidelines first.
Uploading online? Mind the file size.
Many online forms limit file size. Use the Max file size box for JPG single photos (for example 50 or 100 KB). If it can’t fit, lower the resolution to 200 DPI. For other limits you can also run the finished photo through Teasoft’s Compress Image to 50KB or Compress Image to 100KB tools.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I make a passport size photo online?
Open Teasoft's Passport Size Photo Maker, add a clear, front-facing photo, choose your size, use the head guide to zoom and position, pick a background colour, choose a single photo or a print sheet, and click Create passport photo. Then download the result.
What is the size of a passport photo?
It depends on the country. In this tool, India, UK, Schengen / EU and Australia passports are 35 × 45 mm, a US passport or visa is 51 × 51 mm (2 × 2 in), Canada is 50 × 70 mm and China is 33 × 48 mm. Check your application's official rules in case they differ.
What is the India passport photo size?
The India passport preset is 35 × 45 mm. The India visa / OCI preset is 51 × 51 mm (2 × 2 in), and the PAN card preset is 25 × 35 mm. Check the official instructions for your application.
What is the US passport or visa photo size?
The USA preset is 51 × 51 mm, which is 2 × 2 inches. Compare your finished photo with the official US photo requirements before you submit it.
Can I make a passport photo from my phone?
Yes. Take a clear, front-facing photo against a plain wall in even light, ideally with someone else holding the phone at eye level, then add it to the tool. Avoid selfies taken at arm's length, which can distort your face.
Is the head guide an official check?
No. The oval is only a rough guide for head size and position. Compare your finished photo with your country's rules before you submit or print it.
Does the tool guarantee my photo will be accepted?
No. Acceptance depends on the issuing authority or portal, and their rules can change. The tool helps with size, position and background, but it can't fix a blurry, tilted or badly lit photo.
Can I change the background of my photo?
Yes. Turn on Replace plain background and choose White, Off-white, Light blue, Red or a custom colour. It works best with a plain, evenly lit wall and clothes that differ from it. Check the edges around your hair and shoulders before using the result.
Which background colour should I choose?
The colour your application asks for. Some applications want white or off-white, and others different colours, so check the rules for your passport, visa or form.
How do I print passport photos at home or at a shop?
Choose a 4×6 in, 5×7 in or A4 sheet and download it. Print at 100% (actual size) with "fit to page" turned off, on photo paper if possible, then cut along the edges. A photo lab can print a 4×6 sheet at its original size.
How many photos fit on a sheet?
A sheet repeats your photo as many times as fit on the page, so the number depends on the photo size and the sheet. The preview or the downloaded file shows the layout.
How do I get my passport photo under 50 KB or 100 KB for an online form?
Choose Single photo, save as JPG, and enter the limit in Max file size. If it can't fit, lower the resolution to 200 DPI. You can also use Teasoft's Compress Image to 50KB or Compress Image to 100KB tools.
Which resolution should I use?
300 DPI is the default and suits standard printing. Use 200 DPI for smaller files for online uploads, and 600 DPI only for very high-quality prints, since the files are large.
Should I save as JPG or PNG?
JPG gives much smaller files and suits most uses. Choose PNG if you want lossless quality. Sheets are always saved at high quality.
Can I make a photo in a custom size?
Yes. Choose Custom size, then enter the width and height in mm or px. If you use px, the resolution setting is ignored, and print sheets need a size in mm.
Can I use an iPhone HEIC photo?
This tool accepts JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP and AVIF. Convert the HEIC photo to JPG first with Teasoft's Images to JPG or HEIC to JPG converter, then add it here.
Is my photo uploaded to a server?
No. Your photo is edited in your browser and never uploaded. That matters for ID photos.
Can I make passport photos on my phone?
Yes. The tool works in the browser on Android, iPhone, tablets and computers. You do not need to install an app.
Is the Passport Size Photo Maker free?
Yes. It is free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no hidden fees.
