How Do You Format Text for LinkedIn and Social Media?

To format text for social media, paste your text into Teasoft's Text Formatter, choose your platform (LinkedIn, Facebook, X, Instagram, WhatsApp, TikTok, Reddit, YouTube, Pinterest, Google Docs, Twitch, Discord, MS Word or Snapchat), select the words you want to style and click Bold, Italic, Underline or another font. Add bullet points, dividers or emojis, check the preview and character count, then click Copy post and paste it into the app. The styling is made of Unicode characters, so it stays bold or italic even where there are no formatting buttons.

Most apps, including LinkedIn, Instagram, X, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest, Twitch and Snapchat, only accept plain text, so there is no bold or italic button. This tool swaps normal letters for look-alike Unicode characters, such as 𝗕𝗼𝗹𝗱 or 𝘐𝘵𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘤. Because they are real characters, not hidden code, they survive copy and paste into any of the 14 supported platforms.

The formatting happens on your own device, in your browser. Your text is never uploaded, and your draft is kept in this browser so you can come back to it. Styled letters are Unicode symbols, so they look the same in every app that can display them.

What You Can Do With This Tool

How to Format Text for Any Platform (3 Steps)

Add your text

Type or paste your text, or click Sample to try an example. Pick your platform, from LinkedIn, Facebook, X and Instagram to WhatsApp, TikTok, Reddit, YouTube, Pinterest, Twitch, Discord, Snapchat, Google Docs or MS Word.

Style and structure

Select words and click B, I, U or S, or press Ctrl/Cmd + B, I or U. Open Fonts for script, monospace, double-struck and other styles, Lists for bullets or numbers, and Insert for dividers and emojis. Use Clean up to tidy spacing or remove blank lines.

Preview and copy

Check the live preview and the character counter, then click Copy post and paste it into the app. You can also download it as a .txt file.

Tip: keep the first line short and bold. It is the part people see before “see more”, so it decides whether they open your post.

These are starting points; platforms change their limits from time to time. Check the preview before you post.

Which style is easiest to read?

ChooseWhen
Bold or Sans boldHeadlines and key words. These are the clearest styles.
Italic or ScriptQuotes, names and a softer tone, in short bursts.
Fraktur, Double-struck or Small capsDecorative bios and usernames, not long text.

How much formatting is too much?
Style a few words or one line per paragraph. Whole posts in bold or script are hard to read, may be skipped by screen readers and can look like spam. Plain text with a bold hook and a clean list usually works best.

Why does my text look like boxes?
Some older phones, apps or fonts don’t include every Unicode character, so a few styles can show as empty boxes or question marks. Bold, italic and sans styles are the most widely supported, so check on your own phone if in doubt.

Writing a post that is easy to read

Before you post

  • Check the character count. Pick your platform so the counter shows the right limit, and remember that styled letters can count as two.
  • Make one line bold. Use the Bold Text Generator to turn a whole line bold in one step.
  • Fix the capitals. Use the Title Case Converter or Sentence Case Converter for headings and sentences.
  • Test on your phone. Most people read posts on mobile, so check line breaks and emojis there.

LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, X (Twitter), TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest, Snapchat, Twitch, Reddit, Discord, WhatsApp, Google Docs and MS Word. Any app that displays Unicode text will show the styles.

Sometimes. Many styled letters are stored as two code units, so platforms like X may count them as two characters. The counter here counts them on the safe side.

Yes. Unicode styles work in YouTube titles, descriptions and comments, Pinterest Pin titles and descriptions, Twitch chat and bios, and Snapchat captions. Keep it to a few words for readability.

That device or app has no font for those Unicode characters. Bold and italic are the best supported; Fraktur, script and small caps are less reliable on older devices.

Not always. Screen readers may read styled letters one by one or skip them, and search may not match them. Use styles for short highlights and keep important words plain.

Yes. Select the text and use Clean up to clear the styling. Undo and Redo also let you step back through your changes.
